Summary The trachea receives excitatory cholinergic innervation from the vagus nerve and the stellate ganglion. Inhibitory adrenergic fibres have the same sources. Those in the vagus nerve probably derive from high vagosympathetic anastomoses. Summary The periferal distribution of the right aortic nerve has been studied in physiological experiments on the dog. It has been found that after section of both Hering's nerves and left vago-depressor trunk and after denervation of the baroceptor area ofMuratori-Nonidez lying at the root of the right subclavian artery, the electrical stimulation of one splancnic nerve or the intravenous injection of adrenaline still produces a reflex bradycardia; moreover the cooling of the vagus nerve still results in a rise of the blood pressure. It is inferred that a group of baroceptor fibres of the right aortic nerve originate from areas situated in the aortic region.  相似文献

The number and size of myelinated fibres have been determined in the nerve to medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle of Rats in which the sciatic nerve had been frozen locally 1 to 5 times at monthly intervals. The contralateral nerve was used as a control. When the measurements were made one month after the last freezing, the number of fibres increased progressively until the 3rd freezing, reaching about 220% of the normal value. No higher values were observed after 4 or 5 freezings. The mean diameter of fibres decreased with the number of operations. When the measurements were made 3, 6, 12 or 18 months after the 3rd freezing, the number of fibres decreased by about 30% between the 1st and the 3rd month and then stabilized. The mean diameter of fibres increased progressively. However, at the 18th month, the size of the myelinated fibres had not reached the normal value.  相似文献

The nervous system regulates immune function and inflammation. Experimental evidence shows an important role of the autonomic nervous system in the bidirectional communication between the brain and the immune system, underlying the ability of the brain to monitor immune status and control inflammation. Here we review the involvement of the autonomic nervous system in regulating inflammation, with a focus on the vagus nerve. A population of ventral neural tube cells has recently been shown to migrate out of the hind brain neural tube via the vagus nerve and contribute to the developing gastrointestinal tract. Since liver is also innervated by the vagus nerve, we sought to determine if these cells also migrate into the liver. Ventral neural tube cells in the caudal hindbrain of chick embryos were tagged with a replication-deficient retroviral vector containing the LacZ gene on embryonic day 2. Embryos were processed for detection of labeled cells on embryonic day 5 and 11. Labeled cells were seen in the liver on both days and identified as hepatocytes. Previously, it was believed that all hepatocytes develop from the gut endoderm. Results of the present study show an additional source for the formation of liver cells. Summary The incorporation of 3H-uridine into the RNA of the perikaryal and fibrous region of the optic tectum of the fish brain was investigated by means of radioautography after incubation times of 11 min to 96 h. There is no transport of RNA from the cell body to the nerve fibres. After RNase-treatment 90% of perikaryal RNA-labelling is washed out, but only a very small amount of the previous very few labelling of the nerve fibres.  相似文献

Summary The conduction velocity of the unmyelinated portion of the optic nerve fibres within the cat's retina was measured by shifting a microelectrode from the blind spot outwards and stimulating antidromically in the lateral geniculate body. The mean conduction velocities were 2.8 m/s for the fast, and 1.7 m/s for the slow group of optic nerve fibres, as compared with maxima of 70 and 23 m/s respectively for the same groups in the myelinated extrabulbar portion.  相似文献

Small pieces of peripheral nerve, skeletal muscle or submandibular gland, taken from young or new-born mice, were grafted into the non-transected spinal cord of young albino mice, at the thoracic level, through a punctiform meningeal opening. Neighbouring intraspinal nerve fibres, severed during the grafting process, regenerate into and eventually throughout the transplants. In this regenerative process, sedentary or migrating Schwann cells of the transplants probably have a prominent influence in guiding the growth of the axonal sprouts they ensheathe and eventually myelinate.  相似文献

Summary The pulpal nerve fibres of feline incisors were examined ultrastructurally after i.v. administration of 6-OH-dopamine. The presence of degenerating unmyelinated fibres at this site provides conclusive morphological evidence that sympathetic fibres enter the dental pulp.  相似文献

Summary Vagus nerve section was performed on a stenohaline species: the tench (Tinca tinca L.). The oxygen consumption and Na+ content increased in both tap water and after transfer to salt water. Summary Both the superficial and deep pineal components of the intact hamster contain a rich network of green to yellow-green fluorescent nerve fibres. After either superior cervical ganglionectomy or after transection of the nervi conarii the majority of the fluorescing fibres disappeared from both the superficial and deep pineal mases. An immunocytological study of the basal hypothalamus of Carassius auratus and Cyprinus carpio with an alpha-endorphin antiserum shows the different nerve processes belonging probably to the immunoreactive cells of the lateral part of the N.L.T. According to their pathways, two main fibre tracts have been distinguished: many fluorescent fibres converge towards the pituitary gland into which they enter, other fibres run caudally through the tuber towards the nucleus tuberis inferior (Baumgarten and Braak) where they could not be followed further.  相似文献

The tachykinins constitute a family of neuropeptides with a common C-terminal amino acid sequence. The best known tachykinin is substance P. Tachykinins are found in the nerve plexuses and nerve fibers in the stomach of all species examined. The circular muscle layer is densely innervated, whereas the longitudinal layer and the mucosa are less intensively innervated. Tachykinins are also found in a significant number of afferent neurons with cell bodies in the dorsal root ganglia. Release of tachykinin can be demonstrated in response to both electrical stimulation of the vagus nerves and application of capsaicin. In the stomach all three known tachykinin receptors seem to be present. Although species variations exist, NK-2 receptors are generally present on the musculature, NK-1 receptors on both neurons and muscles, and NK-3 receptors on neurons only. Tachykinins stimulate motility in all parts of the stomach, but tachykinins also appear to inhibit motility in certain situations. Also, motility initiated centrally, mediated through the vagus nerves, is influenced by tachykinins. The precise role of tachykinin in the various motor programs in the stomach is not clear. Gastric acid secretion is influenced by tachykinins in several species. Tachykinins do not seem to act as neurotransmitters directly on parietal cells, but may have a modulatory function. The importance of tachykinins for the regulation of pepsinogen and hormone secretion from the stomach remains unclear. Desheathed rabbit vagus nerve has been found to form cyclic AMP when incubated with adenosine. This accumulation of cyclic AMP is inhibited by theophylline but not by antiadrenergic agents, anticholinergic agents or local anaesthetics. Depolarizing media are not able to promote cyclic AMP accumulation in this preparation.  相似文献

Summary We demonstrated, in the pituitary of the animals examined, fibres which emerge from the Tr. hypothalamo-hypophyseal system and enter partly into the Pars intermedia and partlyvia the Pars tubularis into the Pars distalis and take their course directly towards the glandular cells. In the Pars distalis the nerve fibres end around the glandular cells in a special pericellular net.  相似文献
