The morphology of cytoplasts and karyoplasts produced by cytochalasin D.

The denucleation of L cells and human lymphocytes in suspension was carried out by incubation with cytochalasin D25 and 50 microgram/ml and with ultracentrifugation over a discontinuous Ficoll gradient. Ultrastructural examination of the separate layers confirmed the presence of the anucleate cytoplasm (cytoplasts) with intact membrane and the separated nuclei (karyoplasts).

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass die Aggregation der Bettwanzen (Cimex lectularius) durch einen von beiden Geschlechtern abgegebenen Versammlungsduft eingeleitet wird. Letzterer ist in Methylalkohol, aber nicht in Diäthyläther löslich, verdampft bei 32°C und lockt unbegattete sowie begattete Wanzen beider Geschlechter an. Die Lockreaktion ist von der Duftmenge abhängig und bleibt bei antennenlosen Wanzen aus. Die Stinkdrüsen gereizter, respektive verletzter Bettwanzen sondern Hex-2-en-1-al und Oct-2-en-1-al als Alarmduft ab, der die Zerstreuung der Wanzengruppen hervorruft.

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass die Pflanzenschutzmittel Captan und Folpet mit Verbindungen, die Thiolgruppen enthalten, unter physiologischen Bedingungen (gepuffertes Blut) reagieren.

Enhancement by caffeine of sister-chromatid exchange frequency induced by antineoplastic agents in human lymphocytes.

The SCE frequency induced by Thiotepa and the effect of this antineoplastic drug in combination with caffeine have been studied in cultures of human peripheral blood. Caffeine was found to enchance SCE and breakage frequencies induced by Thiotepa in human lymphocytes.

Zusammenfassung Das in juvenilen Mäusen durch Oestriol (100 µg) stimulierte Uteruswachstum wurde durch Testosteronpropionat blockiert. Mit Cortisonacetat, Cortisolacetat, Deoxycorticosteronacetat und Progesteron wurde keine solche Wirkung erzielt.

Enhancement of fibronectin expression by herbimycin A

Herbimycin A specifically increased the level of fibronectin mRNA in Rous sarcoma virus-infected rat kidney cells, and the time course of fibronectin expression was found to be closely related to that of morphological change induced by herbimycin A.     

Enhancement of antibody formation by hypersensitivity reaction

Zusammenfassung Eine Anzahl Kaninchen wurde durch humanes Serumalbumin (HSA) sensibilisiert. Wurde bei ihnen durch eine weitere Dosis desselben Antigens (HSA) eine Hypersensitivitätsreaktion hervorgerufen, so wurde die Antikörperbildung gegen ein anderes gleichzeitig eingeführtes Antigen (Ovalbumin-OA) stimuliert.
