Synthesis of L-4-amino-3-isoxazolidinone,the unnatural stereoisomer of cycloserine and its antibiotic activity

Zusammenfassung Eine direkte Synthese vonl- undd-Cycloserin ausl- undd-Serin wurde beschrieben. Die bakteriostatischen Effekte der drei Formen von Cycloserin (d-,l-unddl-) aufE. coli in synthetischem Medium wurden verglichen.     

β-Pyrrolo-L-alanine,a new antimetabolite of phenylalanine and tyrosine inEscherichia coli

Zusammenfassung -Pyrrolo-l-alanin, dessen Synthese beschrieben ist, hemmt das Wachstum vonE. coli B auf synthetischen Nährböden. Die Hemmung wird vonl-Phenylalanin undl-Tyrosin vollständig, vonl-Tryptophan teilweise, nicht aber von Histidin aufgehoben. Stämme vonE. coli, die gegen-Pyrrolo-l-alanin bzw.p-Fluorophenyl-dl-alanin resistent sind, zeigen gekreuzte Resistenz.     

Catalytic properties of synthetic pentapeptides

Zusammenfassung Es wurde das Pentapeptidl-Thr-l-Ala-l-Abu-l-His-l-Asp synthetisiert, seine katalytische-hydrolytische Wirkung auf Essigsäure-p-nitrophenylester geprÜft und die katalytische Aktivität ca. 1/3 derjenigen seines isosterenl-Thr-l-Ala-l-Cys-l-His-l-Asp festgestellt.

Synthesis and biological activity of peptides related to bradykinin

Zusammenfassung Die Synthese von 6 Polypeptiden aus den im Bradykinin vorkommenden Aminosäuren wird beschrieben. Das Nonapeptid H-l-Arg-l-Pro-l-Pro-Gly-l-Phe-l-Ser-l-Pro-l-Phe-l-Arg-OH zeigte hohe Bradykinin-ähnliche Wirksamkeit in verschiedenen biologischen Testen.     

Diketopiperazines containing L-proline from Streptomyces lavendulae and their stereochemistry in solution

Summary l-Valyl-l-proline (I),l-leucyl-l-proline (II),l-phenylalanyl-l-proline (III) andl-isoleucyl-l-proline (IV) anhydrides were isolated from the cultures ofStreptomyces lavendulae No. 314 and, on the basis of¹³C-NMR and CD spectra, their stereochemistry in solution is described.Acknowledgments. Summary Autoradiographic studies of the mouse brain following incorporation ofd,l-proline-H³ andl-histidine-H³ show a wide variation of the regional uptake ofd,l-proline into the cerebral nerve cells, in contrast tol-histidine. In the cerebral cortex proline is to be found only in the nerve cells of the lamina ganglionaris (V) and lamina multiformis/infima (VI/VII). Subsequent translocation of radioactivity is indicative of an axoplasmic flow of proline-labelled substances into the distal parts of the neuronal processes.

Interaction between sugars and amino acids in intestinal absorption by rat,in vivo

Summary The inhibitory action ofl-leucine on the intestinal absorption ofd-glucose andd-galactose, as well as the inhibitory action ofd-galactose on the absorption ofl-leucine at various concentrations by rat small intestine has been studied. The further effect was more clearly evidenced when the medium was perfunded through the intestine in a closed circuit system using a peristaltic pump.     

The isolation and amino acid sequences of new pyroglutamylpeptides from snake venoms

Zusammenfassung Die Strukturaufklärung von zwei neuen tryptophanhaltigen Peptiden im Schlangengift vonAgkistrodon halys blomhoffii ergeben:l-Pyroglutamyl-l-Glutaminyl-l-Tryptophan undl-Pyroglutamyl-l-Asparaginyl-l-Tryptophan. Diese Peptide sind in Schlangengiften der Viperidae- und Crotalidae-Arten verbreitet.

Über den Einbau von Dipeptiden in Ergotoxin-Alkaloide

Summary l-Valyl-l-leucine-U-¹⁴C,l-valyl-l-proline-U-¹⁴C-lactam andl-leucyl-l-proline-U-¹⁴C-lactam were administered to submerged cultures of an ergotoxine-mixture-producing strain ofClaviceps purpurea. The added dipeptides were split by the fungus into the corresponding amino acids prior to incorporation. Apparently dipeptides are no immediate precursors for the peptide side-chain of ergotoxinealkaloids.

Kompensation der teratogenen Wirkung eines Thalidomid-Metaboliten durchl-Glutaminsäure

Summary Skeletal defects were observed in the off-spring of SWS-mice following i.p. administration of phthaloyl-l-glutamic acid, a metabolite of thalidomide. The fetuses of animals which receivedl-glutamic acid in addition to the teratogenic drug, did not show any malformations, whereas concurrent i.p. administration of thed-isomer of glutamic acid failed to reverse teratogenicity induced by phthaloyl-l-glutamic acid.     

Experiments on mitochondrial swelling in vivo

Riassunto E stato provato l'effetto sui mitocondri in vivo dei seguenti composti che producono rigonfiamento dei mitocondri isolati in vitro:l-cistina,l-cisteina, glutatione, L-ascorbato,l-tiroxina,l-3, 5, 3-triiodotironina, fosfato e Ca⁺⁺. Solo il Ca⁺⁺ ha provocato un aumento di volume dei mitocondri nelle cellule provate, i mioblasti coltivati in vitro.     

Ein neues Alkaloid aus dem Mycel einesClaviceps purpurea-Stammes. Zur Biogenese von Ergocristin

Summary A new alkaloid from the lyophilized mycelia of aClaviceps purpurea strain, N-[N-(d-Lysergyl)-l-valyl]-l-phenylalanyl-d-prolin-lactam, has been isolated and characterized. From its fast methanolysis it is deduced that the previously reported N-(d-Lysergyl)-l-valinmethylester is actually an artefact. The biogenetic significance and its possible role in biogenesis of Ergocristine is discussed.     

A modified dipeptide from the algaCystoseira corniculata hauck

Structure of albizziine [L(-)-2-amino-3-ureidopropionic acid], an amino acid from higher plants(Mimosaceae)

Zusammenfassung Eine neue Aminosäure, Albizziin, wurde durch chemische Verknüpfung zwischen N-Benzoylalbizziinmethylester undl-2-Benzamido-3-ureidopropionsäuremethylester (III) alsl-2-Amino-3-ureidopropionsäure (I) identifiziert. Die Synthese vonl-2-Ureido-3-aminopropionsäure (II) wird beschrieben.

Zusammenfassung Die Struktur von Fungisporin, eines Zyklopeptides aus Sporen verschiedener Spezies vonPenicillium undAspergillus-Arten, wird durch Synthese und Vergleich mit dem Naturprodukt als die eines Zyklotetrapeptides, cyclo-(l-Phe-d-Val-l-Val-d-Phe-), bewiesen.
