Summary The electrical dark conductivity of several tocopherols has been measured and found to be analogous to that of organic semiconductors. Conductivity at 25°C varies between 10–14 and 10–11 –1 cm–1. The temperature dependence of the tocopherols yields a thermal activation energy of 1.6 ± 0.15 eV for most of the substances.  相似文献

Summary A method of estimating the photosynthetic rate of soybean leaves using an oxygen electrode is presented. The procedure is rapid, requires small samples and compares favourably with estimates by other techniques. Light saturation occurs at 1200 E·m–2·sec–1. The apparent Km for HCO 3 is 3.2 mM at pH 7.6.  相似文献

Waste water purification is characterized by intensive mineralization and nitrification processes. Because of the high O2 demand, temporarily anaerobic conditions may be produced, and denitrification by nitrifying organisms as well as heterotropic denitrification may contribute to N2O release. In situ measurements (1993–1994) suggest that N2O is released from activated sludge in a domestic waste water treatment plant at an average rate of 1040 g m–2h–1 with a range between zero and 6198 g m–2h–1. The production of N2O seems to be related to the concentration of NO 2 and NO 3 as well as to the pH. In the waste water about 75–200 g N2O l–1 is dissolved. This N2O is released after discharge into the receiving waters. The N2O is produced essentially by nitrification rather than by heterotropic denitrification. On a long-term scale the increasing use of mechanical-biological waste water purification plants world-wide may add increasingly to the anthropogenic production of N2O, although the present amount of N2O produced is negligible compared to its global terrestrial production.  相似文献

Summary Using a pulse-labeling technique,14C-adenosine uptake into pyrimidine 5-nucleotidase (P5N) deficient erythrocytes (RBC) was found to be impaired. The Lineweaver-Burk plot showed Km values of 2.0×10–3 mM and 0.2 ×10–3 mM for normal RBC and P5N deficient RBC, respectively. These results indicate that P5N is one of regulators of the adenosine transport system and/or is associated with adenosine carrier protein.  相似文献

Summary Despite differences in surface morphology and fine structure, the permeabilities of untreated scorpion sternite and pleural cuticle to water are similar (0.69 versus 0.79 g·cm–2·h–1·mm Hg–1). Hexane applied to pleural membrane increased its permeability 9-fold, but neither hexane nor chloroform: methanol had much effect on sternite permeability. When sternite cuticle was treated with 1.0 N KOH followed by chloroform: methanol, permeability increased about three times over control values. In contrast, cockroach pronotum, which is 17 times more permeable than scorpion sternite, exhibited a marked increase in permeability when treated with just hexane. In both the scorpion pleuron and cockroach pronotum, disruption of the lipid barrier caused by rubbing is partially responsible for the higher permeabilities observed following solvent treatment.  相似文献

Summary The reaction of excess nitrosyl chloride with vanadium tetrachloride under specific conditions furnishes the previously unreported compound VCl4, 2NOCl. The formation of a 12 adduct shows that vanadium (IV) can behave as a typical tetravalent metal in the MIVCl4-NOCl system. Spectroscopic measurements reveal both nitrosonium and hexachlorometallate ions in the addition compound and indicate structural analogy with (NO)2-TiCl6. The complex may thus be designated as dinitrosonium hexachlorovanadate, (NO)2VCl6. However, this compound is probably not purely ionic, since the relatively low frequency observed for the IR-absorption of the NO+ ion (2146 cm–1 compared with the normal range 2150 to 2400 cm–1) and the appreciable volatility of the compound suggest a significant degree of covalent bonding.

Summary The blood pressure and heart rate responses to intravenous dopamine infusion at 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 g·min–1·100 g–1 were studied in conscious and pentobarbital-anesthetized Sprague — Dawley rats. In the conscious rats, dopamine caused a significant dose-related increase in the mean arterial blood pressure which was abolished in the anesthetized rats. The heart rate increased significantly only at the highest dose infused. The responses to equipressor doses of noradrenaline (40 ng·min–1·100 g–1) and phenylephrine (1.0 g·min–1·100 g–1) were also suppressed in the anesthetized rats. The results suggest that pentobarbital anesthesia depresses the blood pressure response to dopamine infusion in the rat through a depression of activation of alpha-adrenoceptors.16 June 1986  相似文献

Summary Probenecid (100–750 g·ml–1) was found to inhibit cardiac contraction force in untreated and digoxin-treated (100 g·ml–1) isolated right guinea-pig atrium in vitro by a reversible process, without influencing beating frequency. At low concentrations (1.5–60 g·ml–1),14C-probenecid was accumulated into right atrium by an oxygen-dependent process. Correlation between uptake and negative inotropic action of probenecid could not be found.  相似文献

Summary The addition of insulin (10 U) to a suspension of isolated hepatocytes in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate solution. causes an increase in the negative electrophoretic mobility of the cells from –1.68 m sec–1 V–1 cm to 2.26 m sec–1 V–1 cm. This observation supports the findings by other workers that the binding of insulin to its receptor leads to a marked change in the membrane.Acknowledgment. Mean plasma insulin concentration was reduced and mean plasma glucose concentration increased following the administration of N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME; 100 mol kg–1 i.a.) in conscious calves given continuous infusions of exogenous glucose (30–60 mol min–1 kg–1 i.v.). It is concluded that the rise in plasma insulin concentration which occurs in these animals in response to glucose is mediated, at least in part, by a nitric oxide-related factor (NOx).  相似文献

It can be concluded from a kinetic investigation by using flash light thatBH is transformed by the absorbing light into a new substanceL ( max 275 mµ and 225 mµ), andL changes partially intoBH, partially intoZ, which itself is transformed partially intoAH 2 + ,AH,A , partially intoBH. The reactionZ AH,AH 2 + ,A is proportional to the concentration of protons [H +], the reactionZ BH independent of [H +]. Summary Urethane (1×10–2–1×10–1 M) reduced, in a concentration-dependent manner, both intra and extracellular Ca++ dependent noradrenaline-induced contractions of perfused rabbit ear artery as well as the tonic contractions produced by perfusion with high K+ solution. However, a quantitative analysis of the data indicated that for urethane concentrations similar to those found in plasma during anesthesia urethane antagonism is confined to noradrenaline-induced contractions which depend upon the mobilization of Ca++ from intracellular storage sites. In KCl-contracted arteries, urethane enhanced the relaxant effects of isoprenaline.—Urethane reduced the amplitude of contractions of spontaneously beating guinea-pig right atrium at concentrations which have only a limited effect on frequency. In addition, it decreased in a concentration-dependent manner the amplitude of isoprenaline-activated electrically driven, and K+ depolarized guinea-pig right ventricular strips. Urethane had no effect on the chrono and inotropic actions of isoprenaline on cardiac preparations. In in vivo experiments the chronotropic response to low doses of isoprenaline was significantly higher in urethane-treated as compared to unanesthetized rats. The higher dose of isoprenaline tested produced a significant fall in systolic blood pressure in urethane-anesthetized rats. A significant correlation exists between the chronotropic response to isoprenaline and resting heart rate values in urethane-anesthetized rats. These results indicate that urethane, at concentrations similar to those found in plasma during anesthesia selectively interferes with mobilization of Ca++ from intracellular storage sites. In addition, the interference of urethane anesthesia with the isoprenaline chronotropic effect in vivo cannot be explained by a direct interference of urethane with -adrenoceptors at cardiac level.  相似文献

Summary 2, 4-dichlorophenol (DCP), 2, 4-dinitrophenol (DNP) and 2, 4-dinitro-o-cresol (DNC) applied at a concentration of 1.10–7 to 1.10–3 M, produce a dramatic increase in IAA-oxidase activity in young cells ofLens root. IAA destruction by breis from root tissues was inhibited by Mn++ ion at low concentrations of DCP (1·10 to 1.10–7 M), but was enhanced by Mn++ ion at higher (1.10–5 to 1.10–3 M) DCP levels.

Résumé Nous avons étudié l'adsorption négative des anions I*O 3 et Cr*O 4 –– à différents bentonites en fonction d'électrolytes additionnés. Pour les électrolytes NaCl et Na2SO4 les résultats sont en bon accord avec ceux deSchofield etMattson; nous avons étudié aussi l'effet de l'addition de solutions de CaCl2; celles-ci produisent le même effet à des dilutions 20 fois plus grandes que les solutions de NaCl. Comme ceci ne peut pas être expliqué sur la base de la théorie deDebye-Hückel, nous avons appliqué la théorie exacte de la couche double; le facteur 20 mentionné plus haut mène à une valeur de=–75 mV. En introduisant cette valeur de, une représentation graphiques–1/c pour les résultats des expériences au Na-bentonite + solutions de NaCl, donne une surface spécifique de 1110 m2/g.  相似文献

Summary In rats, at low infusion rates taurocholate (TC), taurochenodeoxycholate (TCDC) and taurodeoxycholate (TCD) each produced an increase in bile flow of 20–50%. However, at high infusion rates (5–20 moles min–1 kg–1) the cholestatic effects of the bile salts were revealed and the relative toxicity of the bile salts was seen to be TDC>TCDC>TC.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung 6×10–10 g bis 10–4 g J 125 Rinderserum-Albumin (BSA) bzw. 1,0×10–7 bis 1,0×10–6 g J 125 Rinderserum--Globulin (BGG) werden 3 × 107 Milzzellen normaler Meerschweinchen in vitro angeboten. Unabhängig von der Höhe des Angebotes beträgt die Menge des aufgenommenen BSA 1%, die des aufgenommenen BGG 10% des Angebotes. Durch 4C Inkubations-temperatur wird die Aufnahme z.T. behindert. Die Aufnahme findet nach wenigen Sekunden Inkubationszeit statt und ist nach etwa 2–3 min abgeschlossen.

Summary Therapeutic concentrations of digitoxigenin (10–7–3× 10–7 g/ml), producing positive inotropic effects, did not alter resting and action potentials of electrically driven guinea-pig auricles.
