Concerning the free amino acids in amphibian development

Zusammenfassung Wir untersuchten Keime verschiedener Altersstadien vonTriton palmatus undTriton alpestris mit Hilfe der Papierchromatographie auf das Vorkommen von freien Aminosäuren und Polypeptiden. Im Gegensatz zu andern Autoren fanden wir solche in allen Stadien in nachweisbaren Konzentrationen. Ihre Zahl und Menge ändern sich im Lauf der Entwicklung.Asparaginsäure und Glutaminsäure kommen in jeder Altersstufe vor. Bei jungen Larven (Harrison 31–32) konnten wir neben andern Ninhydrin-positiven Substanzen auch Serin nachweisen. Bei ältern Larven (Harrison 40–44) treten Threonin, Alanin, Valin und Leuzin neu in Erscheinung. BeiTriton alpestris fanden wir in allen untersuchten Stadien einen Polypeptidkomplex, welcher in beiden verwendeten Lösungsmitteln eine hohe Wanderungsgeschwindigkeit aufwies. Er besteht aus: Asparaginsäure, Glutaminsäure, Serin, Glyzin, Thyrosin, Alanin und einer noch nicht identifizierten Aminosäure.Mit der Neurulation scheint eine Abnahme von Zahl und Menge der freien Aminosäuren und der Polypeptide verbunden zu sein. Furchung und Larvenentwicklung sind jedoch durch eine Zunahme gekennzeichnet.     

Keto acids and free amino acids during leaf growth in Bauhinia purpurea L

Summary The biosynthesis of keto acids and free amino acids was studied during the growth of Bauhinia purpurea leaves. -KGA, OAA, pyruvic acid and PEP are the important keto acids observed at various stages. The first 2 metabolites show a progressive increase and PEP OAA pathway is very active during the process of growth.     

Concerning the free amino acids in the hydroid tubularia

Résumé La composition de l'amine acide libre dans les deux espèces deTubularia a été examinée au moyen de la chromatographie. Les tissus d'hydranthe deT. crocea avaient 21 amines acides libres dont 18 ont été identifiées dans les hydrocauli et dans les hydranthes régénérés deT. crocea, 19 dans les hydranthes deT. spectabilis et 14 dans les hydrocauli deT. spectabilis. La différence principale entre les hydranthes et les hydrocauli réside dans la distribution de certaines taches non-identifiées qui apparurent dans les chromatogrammes developpés avec la ninhydrine et les réactifs pour les groupes des imidazoles, guanidines, ou sulfhydriles.

The influence of pyridoxine on the free amino acids of decotylized pea seedlings

Zusammenfassung Es wird festgestellt, dass in jungen Erbsenkeimlingen, die ihrer Kotyledonen beraubt wurden, einige freie Aminosäuren fehlen. Wenn solche Keimlinge mit Pyridoxinlösung infiltriert werden, ist jedoch unter ihren freien Aminosäuren auch die sonst fehlende Glutaminsäure nachweisbar.     

Chromosome studies and chromatographic analysis of free amino acids in two species of coleoptera

Résumé Le nombre des chromosomes diploïdes est de 20 dans les deux espèces de Coléoptères TénébrionïdesGonocephalum depressum etScleron sp. Il y a 18 autosomes et 2 chromosomes sexuels. Ils s'observent dans les acides amino libres. Dasns leScleron sp., il n'a en a que 14. La systématique de ces espèces est discutée sur la base de leurs caractères biochimiques.

The effect of glutamate,cysteate and related amino acids on insect muscle

Summary Application of Glu, CySO₂ or CySO₃ to blowfly larvae caused paralysis and increased the membrane potential of larval muscle. The contents of Glu and CySO₃ in larval muscle containing motor nerve terminals were markedly decreased after the perfusion of high K⁺ saline solution.     

Effect of desipramine on the contents of some free amino acids of mouse brain

I.p. injections of desipramine-HCl (100 mg/kg) produced decreases in the contents of several amino acids of mouse brain after 1 h. Using a 10-100 mg/kg range of doses, these effects appeared to be dose-dependent for alpha-alanine and aspartate. These changes may be due, in part, to a decrease in cerebral oxidative metabolism (Krebs cycle activity) which occurs secondarily to desipramine-induced hypothermia.

The asymmetry of the nucleotide bases and amino acids

Summary Due to the electric polarisation induced by the carbon and nitrogen atoms, the molecules of the nucleotide bases present a stereo-asymmetry. The DNA right-handed double helix is determined by the asymmetry of the nucleotide bases and it is concordant with the right-handed -helix of the polypeptide molecules formed by L-amino acids.

Some effects of radiation on the free amino acids of adult female Mediterranean fruit fly,Ceratitis capitata Wied

Summary Ceratitis capitata pupae, 2–3 days before adult emergence, were treated with gamma irradiation from a⁶⁰Co source. The female fruit flies were extracted and analyzed for free amino acids.     

The free amino acid contents and growth rates of polyploidSaccharomyces

Zusammenfassung In einer genetisch nachweisbar polyploiden Familie von Saccharomyces wurden der Gesamtgehalt an freien intrazellulären Aminosäuren und die Geschwindigkeit der Zellteilungen in Abhängigkeit der Ploidie bestimmt. Es liess sich zeigen, dass die Geschwindigkeit der Zellteilungen von der Ploidie nicht beeinflusst wird, während der Gesamtgehalt an freien intrazellulären Aminosäuren sich direkt proportional mit der Zunahme der Ploidie vergrössert (Verhältnis 1:1).     

On the problem of linear incorporation of amino acids into cell protein

Summary Incorporation of amino acids into mammalian cell protein shows immediate linear kinetics when measured at intervals as small as 5 sec. Free amino acids equilibrate instantaneously across the cell membrane, acting as the precursor supply. Glycine, which does not initially show linear kinetics, may have a significant endogenous precursor supply, but this is not the acid-soluble pool.Acknowledgments.
