A Study on the Characterization of Jude the Obscure

This paper is a brief study on the characterization of Jude the Obscure, and will be focus on the chief character Jude Fawley. This novel, first published in 1895, wasThomas Hardy's last and best literary success. There are six main characters in this novel: Jude Fawley, Susanna Bridehead, Arabella Donn, Richard Phillotson, Aunt Drusilla, Little Father Time (Little Jude). This analysis of the distinct depictions of the typical characters will be helpful to the understanding of the gap between the ideal life a man wishes to lead and the squalid existence he is fated to live in such social environment as Jude is confronted with.     

Lab experiments on the innovative rapid thick strip casting process

Rapid thick strip casting (RTSC) by Anton Hulek, Inventmetall®, is an innovative concept for the production of hot strips with a final as-cast thickness of about 25 mm before rolling. The innovation of the mechanism consists in a vertical mould performing a caterpillar motion. This moving mould has an unconventional parallelogram-shaped cross-section. The conventional rectangular shape is formed in the shaping machine, which is placed straight below the mould. Further elements of the technology are state-of-the-art. For the investigation of this new casting system theoretical calculations were complemented with practical experiments. The investigation focused mainly on two key aspects:the characteristics of the mould and the shaping process. For the practical analysis a static mould with three pairs of elements in laboratory scale was developed and commissioned by the Dept. of Ferrous Metallurgy @ RWTH Aachen University. The shaping experiments were carried out in model scale with two different materials and in variable boundary conditions. The results of these experiments delivered important mechanical as well as thermal informations about the casting system.     

Modeling and simulation of heat transfer for glass bulb mold

Cooling system design in glass bulb pressing operation can greatly affect the productivity and the quality of the final product. The concept of cyclic-averaged steady temperature field is proposed in modeling. Heat transfer in the mold region is considered to be a cyclic-steady, three-dimensional conduction; heat transfer within the glass melt region is treated as a transient, one-dimensional conduction; heat exchange between the cooling system surface and coolant is treated as a steady heat convection. A hybrid model consisting of a three-dimensional boundary element method for the mold region and a finite-difference method with a variable mesh for the melt region is used for numerical simulation. Compared with the experimental data, the numerical model developed here is computationally efficient and sufficiently accurate.

In Hardy＇s novel, Jude the Obscure, many images and scenes relating to churches function to reveal the hero＇s, or the author＇s views towards Christian religion. This essay makes an analysis of the church architecture, church scenes and clerical characters in the novel.     

Dynamics of a qubit—TLS system under resonant microwave driving

We demonstrate the effect of different coupling strengths between a microscopic two-level system(TLS)and a microwave field on the dynamics of a qubit—TLS system when the bipartite system is subject to resonant microwave driving.Rabi beating with a different TLSmicrowave coupling strength is demonstrated in simulations.Entanglement,quantified by the concurrence between the qubit and TLS,both for pure states and mixed states,is simulated.When decoherence is considered,entanglement of the bipartite system oscillates with damping and exhibits entanglement sudden death and/or entanglement sudden death and revival.     

Analysis of cracking phenomena in continuous casting of 1Cr13 stainless steel billets with final electromagnetic stirring

Solidification cracking that occurs during continuous casting of 1Cr13 stainless steel was investigated with and without final electromagnetic stirring (F-EMS). The results show that cracks initiates and propagates along the grain boundaries where the elements of carbon and sulfur are enriched. The final stirrer should be appropriately placed at a location that is 7.5 m away from the meniscus, and the appropriate thickness of the liquid core in the stirring zone is 50 mm. As a stirring current of 250 A is imposed, it can promote columnar-equiaxed transition, decrease the secondary dendrite arm spacing, and reduce the segregation of both carbon and sulfur. F-EMS can effectively decrease the amount of cracks in 1Cr13 stainless steel.

Design Criterion for Fixture Layout Based on the State Space Model in Multistation Assembly Processes

The fixture layout is crucial to assure the product quality in a multistation assembly process （MAP）. A well-designed fixture layout will make the final product＇s variability be insensitive to the fixture variation inputs. As the basis of the fixture layout design, the design criterion plays an important role in the effectiveness of a solution and the optimization efficiency. In this paper, an effective and efficient design criterion is proposed for the fixture layout with a fixed reference point （FRP） in an MAP. First of all, a state space model for the individual port＇s variation propagation and accumulation is developed, which is the mathematical foundation of the proposed criterion. Then, based on this model, a novel design criterion used to evaluate the performance of the fixture layout is proposed for the fixture layout with an FRP. Finally, a method extracted from the proposed design criterion is developed for quick fixture layout design. A four-station assembly process is used to validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed models and methods.

An Ecocritical Interpretation of Jude the Obscure

Thomas Hardy is a famous novelist and poet in the 19th century.Both in his novels and poems,Hardy shows his deep love fornature.Jude the Obscure,Hardy＇s last novel,deeply reflects his ecological thoughts.Based on the theory of ecocriticism,this paper tries toanalyze Hardy＇s ecological thoughts from two aspects including natural ecology and spiritual ecology.The writer＇s lament for the destructionof environment and his sympathy for animals reflect his natural ecological thoughts;the tragedies of Sue and Little Father Time remind peo-ple of the importance of keeping spiritual ecological balance.Interpreting the novel from the perspective of ecocriticism,this paper intends toshow Hardy＇s attempt to keep natural and spiritual ecological balance,and then help the readers to form a better understanding of both Har-dy＇s works and his ideas of literary creation.

将克隆入ｐＧＥＭ７ｚｆ（＋）的甜菜坏死黄脉病毒（ＢＮＹＶＶ）新疆分离物外壳蛋白（ＣＰ）基因的ｃＤＮＡ的ｐＧＥＢ３，用ＸｂａＩ切下，Ｋｌｅｎｏｗ补平，再用ＢａｍＨＩ切下ｃＤＮＡ片段。用ＮｄｅＩ切开原核表达载体ｐＪＷ２，用Ｋｌｅｎｏｗ补平，再用ＢａｍＨＩ切去小片段。将该ｃＤＮＡ与ｐＪＷ２大片段用Ｔ４连接酶连接，构建了ＢＮＹＶＶＣＰ基因的表达载体ｐＪＷＢ４，转化到大肠杆菌ＤＨ５α。经培养和高温诱导，ｐＪＷＢ４成功地表达出了ＢＮＹＶＶ的外壳蛋白。将ｐＧＥＢ３和ｐＢＩ１２１用Ｘｂａｌ和ＢａｍＨＩ酶切Ｔ４连接酶连接，构建了ＢＹＶＶＣＰ基因的植物表达载体，转化到ＤＨ５α，筛选出正向连结的阳性克隆ｐＢＩＢ３，转化入农杆菌ＬＢＡ４４０４（ｐＡＬ４４０４），经用ＰＣＲ扩增和γ３２Ｐ标记的探针杂交约证实为阳性克隆。往甜菜植株中转化工作正在进行中。

提出了一种利用电机定子电压电流、通过全状态观察器来辨识感应电动机速度的方法,采用DSP作为控制核心来实现辨识和矢量变换控制,使系统实时性和可靠性更高;实验证明,此系统具有较好的动、静态性能。
