Zusammenfassung Bei der Extraktion von Zellkernen mit Hilfe verdünnter Salzsäure ändert sich die Zusammensetzung einzelner Extrakte in Abhängigkeit von der Konzentration der benutzten Säure. Die Fraktion des Kalbsthymushistons, die an Arginin und Tyrosin reich ist, scheint an die Desoxyribonukleinsäure des Zellkernes fester gebunden zu sein als die zweite, an Tyrosin arme und an Lysin reiche Fraktion.     

Metabolism of different histone fractions in ehrlich ascites cells after environmental change

Zusammenfassung In Ehrlich-Asziteszellen, die ungünstigen Umweltbedingungen ausgesetzt sind, hört die Zellteilung auf. Doch auch ohne DNS-Synthese geht der Histon-Stoffwechsel noch eine Zeitlang weiter, wobei die Synthese der argininreichen Histone dreimal so gross ist wie die der anderen Typen. Diese von der Zellteilung unabhängige Histon-Synthese ist ein Teil des Mechanismus, mit welchem die Zellen versuchen, sich an die neuen ungünstigen Nahrungsbedingungen anzupassen.

Localization of acid phosphatases in the cell fractions of chick liver

Summary 3 molecular forms (P1, P2 and P3) of acid phosphatase (E.C.3.1.3.2) have been detected in chicken liver homogenate. The different intracellular localization of these molecules has been demonstrated by cellular fractionation and electrophoretic analysis. P1 and P2 phosphatases are both present in the particulate fraction. P3 is present in a pure form in the soluble fraction. The difference between the enzyme molecules present in the particulate fraction and that in the soluble one is confirmed by the different activation-inhibition effect of various ions and substances on the enzymatic activity of subcellular fractions.     

Glucocorticoid localization by radioautography in the rabbit eye following systemic administration of3H-dexamethasone

Summary Dexamethasone was localized radioautographically in the nuclei of target cells of the rabbit eye, following i.v. administration of the labeled steroid. Nuclear receptors in stromal and endothelial cells of the outflow pathway region suggest that glucocorticoids may alter the outflow facility by specific responses of target cells.Acknowledgments. Separation of specific fractions of synaptosomes by affinity chromatography

Summary The authors describe a new technique for isolation of specific fractions of synaptosomes, on the basis of their surface glycoproteins, by affinity chromatography using lectin-Sepharose columns.     

Enzymatic synthesis of trisialoganglioside by particulate fractions of rat liver

Summary Rat liver contains a particulate (membrane-bound) glycosyl transferase, concentrated in Golgi apparatus fractions, which catalyzes the synthesis of a trisialoganglioside from the ganglioside precursor disialohematoside (G_D3). Sialic acid was not incorporated into exogenous G_D1a from CMP-N-acetylneuraminic acid suggesting that G_D1a is an endproduct of the monosialoganglioside pathway. Thus, the disialoganglioside pathway may be a primary source of trisialoganglioside and higher ganglioside homologs in adult rat liver.
