Riassunto Sono state studiate le modificazioni del contenuto di spermina, spermidina ed acidi nucleici in cellule diS. cerevisiae durante le varie fasi di crescita. Inoltre è stato osservato un effetto di stimolo della moltiplicazione cellulare esercitato dalla spermina sul lievito in cui era stato sperimentalmente aumentato il tempo di latenza.     

Effect of testosterone on the levels of nucleic acids and proteins in the uropygial gland of the male quail

A close correlation was evidenced between the length of a silastic capsule filled with testosterone propionate and the resulting plasma concentrations in testosterone in castrated male Quail. 5 days after the beginning of the treatment, testosterone induced in the spleen glands a conspicuous increase in total RNA, DNA and protein contents.     

Separation of the constituent nucleotides of nucleic acids on ion-exchange thin-layers

Zusammenfassung In der vorliegenden Untersuchung wird gezeigt, dass die monomeren Bausteine von hochmolekularer Ribo- und Desoxyribonucleinsäure an Anionenaustausch-Dünnschichtplatten (PEI-Cellulose) getrennt werden können. Die Vorteile des neuen Trennverfahrens gegenüber bisher üblichen Methoden werden charakterisiert.

Effect of intercalating mutagens on crossing-over inDrosophila melanogaster females

Summary In order to evaluate the effect of several intercalating compounds on crossing-over inDrosophila melanogaster females, acridine orange, acriflavine, chloroquine, ethidium bromide and quinacrine were fed separately to larvae ofy ct f/+++ genotype. Our results show that acridine orange, acriflavine and ethidium bromide increase significantly the recombination frequency at thect-f region and support the view that, for intercalating agents, there is a relationship between clastogenic activity and female recombination induction.     

The role of nucleic acids in crown-gall tumor induction

Zusammenfassung Die Arbeit befasst sich mit der Induzierung von Pflanzentumoren durch dasAgrobacterium tumefaciens. Es konnte nachgewiesen werden, dass die Nukleinsäurefraktion aus dem Bacterium imstande ist, nach Zugabe zu einem Homogenisat von verletztenDatura-stramonium-Pflanzen ein Tumor auslösendes Prinzip aufzubauen. Eine derartige (sterile) Fraktion ist in der Lage, echte Crown-Gall-Tumoren zu induzieren, deren Identität mit den bakteriell erzeugten Tumoren morphologisch, histologisch und physiologisch erwiesen ist.
