Summary Feeding to mice of both basal as well as high sucrose diet led to increased levels of plasma triglycerides, which was associated with increased lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase activity. Although males had significantly higher LCAT activity than females in all the dietary groups, sex difference in the plasma triglycerides was observed in high sucrose group only. Increase in plasma triglycerides in experimental groups was associated with an increase in LCAT activity.  相似文献

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity was studied in the ovaries of immature rats treated with pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMS). LDH activity increased sharply at 36 h after PMS injection in the ovarian tissue as well as in the blood. Summary The activity of cytoplasmic superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the liver was about twice as high in adult rats as it was in neonates. In the brain and in the interscapular brown adipose tissue (IBAT), SOD activity was not changed during postnatal development, although it was slightly higher in the brain than in the IBAT (p>0.1). Thyroid hormones produced an increase in SOD activity in the brain of newborn rats, as well as in those animals 30 and 60 days old. The same quantity of hormones did not produce any significant changes in the liver or in the IBAT.  相似文献

Superoxide dismutase is an enzyme that catalyzes the dismutation of superoxide radicals to hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen. This superoxide radical is produced by all aerobic cells as a normal metabolic intermediate of molecular oxygen, and is dangerous for the cell because it induces the inactivation of various enzymes, lipid peroxidation and mutations. Superoxide dismutase can therefore be considered as a protective enzyme. The purpose of this work was to determine the level of superoxide dismutase activity in the Spanish population, and to study the factors that influence this activity. The superoxide dismutase activity of 2397 individuals was determined using the method described by Minami and Yoshikawa. The superoxide dismutase activity level in the adult Spanish population was found to be 4.16 +/- 0.89 Units/ml of blood. No significant variations with respect to sex were detected. But it was observed that the superoxide dismutase activity level was 9% higher in the young urban Spanish population.  相似文献

Drinking of both green and black tea as the only liquid ingested resulted in significant decreases in the activity of transketolase in whole blood of rats both before and after the in vitro addition of thiamin diphosphate. Liver transketolase activity was decreased only by green tea. Mucosal transketolase activity was not affected by either type of tea. The activity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was not affected by either type of tea, while whole blood LDH was decreased by both green and black tea. Neither tea had any affect on mucosal alkaline phosphatase, but thiamin diphosphatase activity was decreased by both teas. An increase in liver total thiamin resulted from the drinking of both types of tea.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA) on the diurnal rhythms of hormonal parameters in serum and ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity in various tissues of male rats. On days 1–2 after FCA, increase of ODC activity (used to evaluate the level of activation) was observed in the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, adrenal medulla, adrenal cortex, liver and lymphoid tissues, while the ODC activity in the kidney was reduced. This was accompanied by an increase in serum corticosterone. On days 3–4 after FCA, ODC activity remained elevated in the pituitary gland, liver and lymphoid tissues, while the ODC activity in the testes and panceas was reduced; kidney ODC activity returned to baseline. This was associated with increased serum levels of prolactin (Prl) and luteinizing hormone, but decreased growth hormone, testosterone and insulin. The increase in ODC activity in the thymus, as well as the reduced ODC activity in the testes and kidney, can be obtained with paraffin. Furthermore, bromocryptine microcapsules (CBLA) reduced the FCA-induced increase of ODC activity in the pituitary gland, liver and lymphoid tissues (days 3–4) but did not affect the changes in other tissues. The increase in ODC activity in the pituitary gland, liver and lymphoid tissues is specific for FCA. A role for Prl in the induction of ODC in liver and lymphoid tissues is suggested by the fact that CBLA suppresses this enhancement.  相似文献

The fibrinolytic activity of the endometrium of the two uterine horns in the rat was histochemically determined. One of the horns contained a plastic-IUD, the other served as control. The endometrium of the control horn was almost inactive in contrast with that of the IUD-horn in which fibrinolytic activity was apparent. The fibrinolytic activity induced by the IUD might be involved in the prevention of ova implantation.  相似文献

Glutathione S-transferase activity in rat intestinal mucosa was increased by the injection of alpha beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds such as phorone and diethylmaleate, but that in the liver and kidney was not. Since the administration of cycloheximide completely blocked the increase of the enzyme activity by phorone, the increase of the activity may be due to de novo synthesis rather than enzyme activation.  相似文献

Summary Reticulocytosis was induced in rabbits by bleeding anemia and erythrocyte superoxide dismutase activity was determined. Distribution of ribonuclease activity (measured at pH 7.6) in subcellular fractions of homogenates of rat skeletal muscle was investigated in sedentary animals and after 8 weeks running program. Training increased ribonuclease activity (expressed as units of enzyme per g of muscle protein). There was no increase in nuclear fraction, but in both cytoplasmic and mitochondrial fractions the RNA-ase activity increased 42% and 45% respectively.  相似文献

Summary The effect of thyroidectomy and subsequent treatment with tri-iodothyronine (T3), as well as that of thyrotoxicosis, was examined on cathepsin D activity in the rat liver, kidney and brain. Summary Angiotensin I converting enzyme in pulmonary tissue of fetal and newborn rabbits was measured using Hip-His-Leu as substrate. Enzyme activity was detected in the late fetal period, increased gradually until birth and increased markedly after birth. Enzyme activity reached adult levels on the 2nd and 3rd day after birth. This observations suggests that the metabolic activity of the lung for angiotensin develops suddenly at the time of derivery.This work was supported in part by grant No. 187032 from Ministry of Education.  相似文献

Cyclic-AMP-dependent protein kinase activity was depressed in whole spleen as well as in isolated splenic lymphocytes from 3-methylcholanthrene (MCA), R3230 AdCa mammary adenocarcinoma, N-hydroxy-2-acetylaminofluorene, and 4-dimethylaminoazobenzene (DMAAB) tumor-bearing Fischer rats as compared to control animals. The magnitude of depression increased with the immunogenicity of the tumor. The depressed enzyme activity was the result of a reduced Vmax for adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP)-stimulated histone phosphorylation.  相似文献

Compared with rats fed a normal diet, the activity of the protein inhibitor of acetyl CoA carboxylase in rat liver doubled after 48 h of fasting. Conversely, acetyl CoA carboxylase activity was diminished by nearly one half. In animals fasted and then subsequently refed a fat free diet, acetyl CoA carboxylase activity was elevated by nearly 9-fold, with a concomitant decrease in the activity of the protein inhibitor by about 9-fold as compared to fasted rats. Hence it appears that the regulatory protein inhibitor for acetyl CoA carboxylase is of physiological significance for fatty acid biosynthesis.  相似文献
