Transaminase in seminal plasma of man

Résumé La transaminase glutamo-oxaloacetique (GO-T) a été déterminée dans le liquide spermatique de l'homme après la séparation des spermatozoïdes. On a trouvé des valeurs élevées pour la GO-T dans le sperme normal et une diminution accentuée dans les cas d'oligospermie et surtout d'azoospermie. Les conditions de la prostate et des vésicules séminales semblent être responsables de cet abaissement de l'activité enzymatique puisque le liquide sans spermatozoïdes (azoospermie) présente encore une activité bien marquée.     

Purification of plasminogen activator(s) from human seminal plasma

Identification of proteins in human prostate tumor material by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry

Protein patterns in cells collected from benign prostatic tissues and prostate carcinomas were analyzed using two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry. Polypeptide expression was evaluated by computer-assisted image analysis (PDQUEST). Proteins expressed by prostate tumors were identified via in-gel digestion and subsequent matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry. In addition to cytoskeletal and mitochondrial proteins, a 40-kDa protein was identified as prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP). PAP expression decreased approximately twofold between benign and malignant tissue. Increased expression of heat shock protein 70 and decreased expression of tropomyosin 1 were also observed in the malignant tissue. The analysis of prostate material by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry shows that particular proteins are of interest as markers of disease. Occurrence of vesicles in rabbit seminal plasma

Zusammenfassung Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass die 2 schnell sedimentierende Komponenten, isoliert aus Kaninchensamenflüssigkeit von verschiedenen Zonen eines unterbrochenen Sucrosegradienten in elektronenmikroskopischen Aufnahmen vesikuläre Strukturen darstellen. Die langsamer sedimentierende Komponente (85S) hat einen kleineren Durchmesser (507 Å) und ist weniger dicht (1.16 g/cm³) als die schneller sedimentierende Komponente mit einem durchschnittlichen Durchmesser von 609 Å und einer Dichte von 1.20 g/cm³. Die Dekapazitationsaktivität in Samenflüssigkeit kommt beiden zu und nicht nur wie bis jetzt angenommen wurde, der 85S Komponente. Zwei verschiedene Vesikeltypen wurden auch in der Samenflüssigkeit von Mensch und Stier gefunden.

Effect of human seminal plasma on tumour-associated immunity in prostatic cancer. A preliminary report

Summary Evidence of significant suppression of tumour-associated immunity in patients with prostatic cancer by human seminal plasma (HuSP1) has been observed. Collation of the immunosuppressive property of HuSP1 in this and previous studies, together with recent studies demonstrating experimental induction of prostatic cancer by spermatozoa and the relationship of prostatic cancer to sexual activity are suggestive of an etiologic role for SP1 in prostatic cancer.     

The interaction of protamine with human blood plasma proteins

Zusammenfassung Es wurden Interaktionen von Protamin mit vorher in Agar-Gel elektrophoretisch getrennten plasmatischen Eiweisskörpern untersucht. Neben der schon früher bekannten Interaktion mit Fibrinogen wurden auch solche mit beiden Klassen der plasmatischen Lipoproteine gefunden.     

Identification of human serum proteins binding iron,copper, and thyroid hormones by starch gel electrophoresis

Résumé On a analysé au moyen d'électrophorèse sur gel d'amidon les protéines qui, dans le sérum humain, lient le fer, le cuivre et l'hormone thyroïdienne, en utilisant comme témoins des protéines purifiées et la radioactivité. Le fer est lié par la -globuline qui, dans certaines familles, paraît se diviser en deux composants. Le cuivre est lié par la céruloplasmine, qui émigre dans la position ₂ rapide. La protéine principale liant la thyroxine est la préalbumine.     

Inhibition of novikoff ascites cell transplantation by a polysaccharide component in bull seminal plasma

Resumen Un extracto desproteinizado preparado a partir de plasma seminal de toro, inhibió completamente la transplantación del hepatoma ascítico de Novikoff de rápido crecimiento. Se sugiere a partir de los experimentos realizados que el factor activo antitransplantación es un polisacárido.     

Separation of serum proteins in different amphibian species by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis

Zusammenfassung Mittels Polyacrylamid-Gel-Elektrophorese wurden die Serumproteine von 11 Amphibienarten in 15 bis 20 Fraktionen aufgetrennt. Das elektrophoretische Muster wurde mit demjenigen des menschlichen Serums verglichen und erwies sich als artspezifisch.

Binding of centchroman--a nonsteroidal antifertility agent to human plasma proteins

Centchroman, a non-steroidal antifertility agent showed a low affinity (Kd = 13.19 X 10(-6) M) and nonsaturable binding to human plasma. Centchroman did not compete either with sex hormone binding globulin or corticosteroid binding globulin. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and temperature dependent binding characteristics revealed that the protein responsible for centchroman binding to human plasma resembles albumin.
