Gastric secretory response of Shay rats to ICI-50123

Zusammenfassung An männlichen Ratten wurden nach 2 h Pylorusligatur Magensaftmenge, Volumen/100 g Körpergewicht, pH, Azidität, gesamte Azidität und Säureproduktion bestimmt und als Funktion von ICI-50123 studiert. Eine maximale Stimulation erfolgte bei einer Dosierung von 1000.0 g/kg s.c. Eine Abnahme der Säureproduktion zeigte sich bei supramaximaler Dosis.     

The effect of hog gastrin on gastric secretion in chronic gastric fistula rats

Résumé L'action de la gastrine de porc a été étudiée chez des rats mâles munis de fistules gastriques. La gastrine était injectée par voie s.c. à des doses de 1–2 ml: 1 ml équivalant à l'activité de 10 g de muqueuse de porc. Le volume de suc gastrique, le volume de suc gastrique par 100 g, l'acidité totale et le débit d'acide accusèrent une pointe dans la première h, alors que la concentration en acide atteignit son maximum vers la troisième h. Le débit de la pepsine diminua entre la troisième et la cinquième h et augmenta légèrement entre la cinquième et la sixième h.

Cardiovascular-compensatory and decompensatory responses in rats anesthetized with pentobarbital compared to chloralose-urethane

The data presented in these studies suggests that rats anesthetized with pentobarbital are better able to compensate for acute blood loss, but are less able to sustain the compensatory effort during hemorrhagic hypotension than rats anesthetized with chloralose-urethane. However, following reinfusion of shed blood the pentobarbital rats are better able to maintain their blood pressure.     

Baroreceptor reflex sensitivity after acute blood volume expansion in anesthetized dogs

Summary Changes in heart rate resulting from mechanically induced changes in arterial blood pressure were used as a measure of baroreflex sensitivity. This sensitivity was shown to be decreased after volume expansion.This work was supported in part by PHS grant HL-23239 and a grant from the Central Ohio Heart Chapter of the American Heart Association.     

Effect of an inhibitor of pepsin proteolysis in total gastric fistula dogs

Zusammenfassung Die Wirkung eines Lignolsulphonates auf die Pepsinproteolyse im Hund mit totaler Magenfistel wurde untersucht und geronnenes Eialbumin als Substrat der Pepsinverdauung verwendet. Es ergibt sich, dass der Pepsin-Inhibitor AHR-2438B-wie früher bei der Ratte nachgewiesen — auch beim Hund die Proteolyse im Magen wirksam hemmt.     

Effects of thyroxine on the reproductive organs and growth of young chickens

Summary Male chicks of an egg-laying strain were injected with 0, 1, 2 or 4 g/100g b. wt thyroxine s. c. daily from 7 to 12 weeks of age. Increasing dose suppressed testicular development and puberty was completely blocked by the highest level. Live weight gain was enhanced by thyroxine treatment. Similar treatment of females prevented normal development of the ovaries at puberty.     

Pancreozymin/cholecystokinin a physiological mediator of gastric secretory inhibition of duodenal origin

Résumé La Pancréozymine-cholécystokinine (PZ) augmente la sécrétion de l'acide gastrique stimulée par la méthacholine, mais diminue la réponse acide à la gastrine pentapeptide. L'acidification de l'anse Thiry-Vella du duodénum fait augmenter pareillement la sécrétion acide de la poche d'Heidenhain stimulée par la méthacholine et la diminue quand le stimulant est de la gastrine pentopeptide. Il est bien connu que l'acidification du duodénum libère le PZ de la muqueuse duodénale. Nos résultats suggèrent que le PZ est l'agent médiateur d'abaissement de l'acidité gastrique après acidification du duodénum.

Adrenal responses to hypoxia and hypercapnia in the young calf

Summary Quantitative analysis of adrenal responses to moderate hypoxia and hypercapnia in the conscious calf shows that the sensitivity of the adrenal cortical response far exceeds that of the adrenal medulla.Acknowledgment. Repair of fundo-antral gastric fistula by homologous and heterologous fundo-antral tranplansts in adult rats]

Use of fundo-antral gastric transplants excised from Rat or guinea-pig stomach in order to repair fundo-antral fistula was well tolerated by adult Rats and compatible with a normal survival. In 90% of homologous transplantation, and 70% of heterologous transplantation, no brutal and mortal rejection of transplant was observed. The transplant did not regenerate, but its corpse was not eliminated, and remained united to the wall of the receiver's stomach, and infiltrated with lymphocytes. We explain the benignity of immunologic reaction in evoking the role of the liver which acts as a filter in sequestering a great part of antigens, and so moderating the antibody response by the spleen and lymphoid system.     

Cholinergic components in the gastrin pathway of gastric acid stimulation

Summary In the isolated whole stomach of the mouse, cimetidine and atropine appear to be specific antagonists of histamine- and acetylcholine-induced stimulation of parietal cells. Interactions were demonstrated between cimetidine and gastrin, atropine and gastrin, respectively. In addition to a histaminergic pathway of gastrin stimulation, a cholinergic part, probably postganglionic, can be taken into consideration.Acknowledgments. I am indebted to Miss G.B. Renal excretion of calcium-disodium-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid — A new tubular secretory mechanism?

Zusammenfassung Die Ausscheidungsgeschwindigkeit nach intravenöser Injektion von CaNa₂ÄDTA bei Ratten war höher als die des Inulins und änderte sich weder mit dem pH-Wert des Harnes noch mit der Belastung durch hohe Dosen von PAH, Diodrast, Probenecid oder Chinin. Bei den Hühnern hingegen wurde kein wesentlicher Unterschied zwischen der Ausscheidungsgeschwindigkeit von CaNa₂ÄDTA und Inulin gefunden und eine tubuläre Sekretion der ÄDTA konnte sogar bei der Anwendung der Methode vonSperber nicht bestätigt werden.     

Hydrochloric acid secretion of fetal rat gastric mucosa]

In Rat, spontaneous secretion of hydrochloric acid by gastric mucosa takes place before birth. From day 20 of gestation until birth, the pH of gastric content markedly decreases, reaching 3 pH-units in newborns. During this period, Cl- concentration in gastric juice increases, while p-CO2 remains constant.     

Histamine stimulation of gastric pepsin and hydrochloric acid in patients of vitiligo

Zusammenfassung Die stündliche Pepsinsekretion bei dreissig Vitiligo-kranken und 15 gesunden Personen wurde nach Histaminstimulation gemessen. Bei den Vitiligo-Kranken wurden zwei Drittel der normalen Pepsinsekretion beobachtet.

Oral antigastric acid secretory activity of synthetic prostaglandin analogues (9-oxoprostanoic acids)

Résumé L'analogue synthétique de la prostaglandine, AY-22,093, exerce moins d'inhibition sur la sécrétion basale de l'acide gastrique chez le rat lorsque administré en dose unique plutôt qu'en dose divisée, par voie souscutanée. Par contre, l'analogue AY-22,469 contenant un groupe méthylé en C-15, montre des effets semblables. AY-22,469 et son ester méthylique AY-22,443 sont efficaces lorsque administrés par voie orale, tandis que le composé AY-22,093 ne l'est pas.     

Corticoid and salicylate induction of gastric acid secretion in the vagotomized rat

Zusammenfassung An der narkotisierten Ratte wurde bei submuköser Anwendung der Einfluss von acetylsalicylischer Säure und Hydrokortisonacetat auf die Sekretion von Salzsäure in normalen und vagotomierten Tieren untersucht. Beide Stoffe hatten bei allen Tieren eine anregende Wirkung auf die Absonderung von Magensäure, die durch lokale Anwendung von Atropin gehemmt werden konnte. Es scheint wahrscheinlich, dass der ulcerogene Effekt von Salicylaten und Kortizoiden zumindest teilweise auf die direkte Stimulation des intramuralen Nervenplexus zurückzuführen ist.

Antiarrhythmic action of synthetic oxytocin in anesthetized man

Zusammenfassung Synthetisches Oxytocin wurde für die Behandlung von ventrikulären Arrhythmien, welche bei Patienten im Lauf einer Allgemeinnarkose aufgetreten sind, verwendet. In 8 von 10 Fällen erfolgte eine prompte Wiederherstellung des normalen Sinusrhythmus. Es konnten keine unerwünschten kardiovaskulären Wirkungen beobachtet werden.
