An increase in thyroid radioiodine uptake following the administration of cyproterone acetate

Zusammenfassung Die Wirkung des Cyproteron acetates auf die J¹³²-Aufnahme der Rattenschilddrüse wurde untersucht. Die Radiojodaufnahme der Schilddrüse wurde durch diese Substanz erhöht, wobei gleichzeitig eine mässige Zunahme des Schilddrüsengewichtes festgestellt werden konnte. Gleichzeitige Verabreichung von Oestradiol hob diesen Effekt auf.     

Inhibition of corticotropic function by administration of GABA in carp (Cyprinus carpio L.)]

The intracardiac injection (50 microgram/g) of GABA to Carps clearly inhibits the rise of the plasma cortisol level which occurs usually in response to the blood sampling manipulations. The inhibition starts thirty minutes after injection and lasts till the end of the experiment two hours later. The hypothesis that this neurotransmitter has a regulatory function on the corticotrop cells, especially on the excretion of ACTH has to be considered.     

Effect of 2-mercaptopropionylglycine (MPG) on thyroid function in sub-lethally irradiated mice

Summary External irradiation resulted in an increase in thyroid¹³¹I uptake and plasma PB¹³¹I conversion ratio, whereas pretreatment with MPG reduced both the values significantly. Zum Einfluss von Angiotensin II auf die Nebennierenrinde unter chemischer adrenostase mit SU 4885 (Metopiron)

Summary The inhibition of 11--hydroxylase in the adrenal cortex with SU 4885 (metopiron) increases the ACTH-secretion. Val₅-angiotensin II blocks the reaction of the anterior pituitary gland similarly as does dexamethasone. Mode and intensity of this action of angiotensin II, and the influence on rats treated as described, are studied.     

Glycerylphosphorylarsenocholine and phosphatidylarsenocholine in yelloweye mullet (Aldrichetta forsteri) following oral administration of arsenocholine

Summary The novel arsenical glycerylphosphorylarsenocholine has been isolated from yelloweye mullet (Aldrichetta forsteri) following oral administration of arsenocholine. Ether-soluble arsenic was shown to be present as phosphatidylarsenocholine.     

Hypothalamo-hypophyseal-gonadal function in the rat following administration of the novel and selective D-1 agonist CY 208-243

Summary The effects of the novel and selective dopamine D-1 agonist CY 208-243 on the rat hypothalamo-hypophyseal-gonadal (HHG) axis were studied. CY 208-243 did not modify the concentration of luteinizing hormone (LH) in serum from female or male rats, and had no effect upon opiate antagonist-induced stimulation of LH secretion in male rats. CY 208-243 did not inhibit ovulation in cycling female rats. Thus, D-1 receptor activation by systemic drug administration does not alter HHG function in rats.

Interrelationship between the thyroid gland and sympathetic function

Resumen Se estudió en ratas Wistar macho, el efecto de la triiodotironina y el¹³¹I sobre el contenido y concentración noradrenalina y adrenalina, en glándula submaxilar y corazón. Se estudió también, el efecto del isoproterenol sobre el glucógeno de ambos órganos en animales controles e hipotiroideos experimentales. Se observó un comportamiento diferente en los depósitos de noradrenalina y adrenalina en los órganos estudiados. La triiodotironina produjo una disminución en la liberación o catabolismo de las catecolaminas y el¹³¹I parece causar el efecto opuesto y una disminución de la sensibilidad de los recptores adrenérgicos.

Deposition of fat in the liver following administration of caffeine

Zusammenfassung Koffein in Dosen von 25 und 50 mg/kg s.c. führte bei weissen Mäusen als Folge einer gesteigerten Lipolyse im Depotfett zur Abnahme des Fettgehalts des Fettgewebes, zur Zunahme der unveresterten Fettsäuren im Serum und zur Einlagerung von veresterten Fettsäuren in die Leber. Die Hauptwirkung fand sich nach 2 h. Der Gehalt des Serums an veresterten Fettsäuren und Gesamtcholesterin blieb unverändert.     

Disappearance of radioactivity from plasma following intravenous administration of tritiated thyrotrophin-releasing hormone (Ro 8-6270) to man

Zusammenfassung Nach i. v. Verabreichung von Thyrotrophin-releasing Hormonen an Versuchspersonen ergibt sich eine biphasische Kurve für den Abfall der Tritiumaktivität im Plasma mit einer Exkretions-Halbwertszeit von 3 h.
