Nephrocompensatory growth following thymectomy.

Thymectomy performed 28 days before unilateral nephrectomy produced significant inhibition in compensatory renal growth (CRG) in 3-6-month-old rats. Sera from thymectomized animals are not deprived of their renotrophic activity, but thymectomy of serum recipients almost abolished the capability of renotrophic serum to produce CRG.     

Osseal changes in mice following neonatal thymectomy

Zusammenfassung In neonatal thymektomierten Mäusen wurden nach 6–7 Wochen röntgenologisch sowie histologisch das «wasting syndrome» und schwere Knochenatrophien beobachtet. Der Mechanismus der beobachteten enchondralen Ossifikationsstörung wurde diskutiert.     

Alterations in bone-marrow cellularity following thymectomy in rats

Summary The number of nucleated marrow cells was decreased following neonatal thymectomy in rats, and was corrected by administration of syngeneic lymphoid cells, or by implantation of a syngeneic testis. Pathological changes in inbred strains of mice following early thymectomy and irradiation

Summary Mice subjected to thymectomy and irradiation were found to develop a range of pathological change in various organs. These changes were accompanied by antibodies to a variety of self-components. The pattern of pathological and autoimmune change was found to vary with the strain. Activity of the reticuloendothelial system following exposure to electric stress and thymectomy

Summary After electric stress stimulation, granulopectic activity is reduced in otherwise normal rats, whereas it appears to be increased in thymectomized animals. The differences between the 2 groups of animals seem to support the hypothesis that the effects of stress upon the overall phagocytic capacity may be mediated by the products of lymphocyte breakdown.The collaboration of Prof. A. The phagocytic activity of Kupffer cells after thymectomy

Zusammenfassung Die Phagocytoseaktivität der Leber ist 24 und 48 h nach Thymektomie erwachsener Mäuse gegenüber scheinthymektomierten und unoperierten Kontrolltieren erniedrigt. Am 7. und 14. postoperativen Tag hat sich die Speicherleistung der Kupffer-Zellen wieder normalisiert.     

Effect of thymectomy on immune response in adult rats

Zusammenfassung Röntgenbestrahlung thymectomi-sierter Ratten ergab eine abgeschwachte Immunreaktion. Für eine Immunreaktion adulter Tiere scheint jedoch der Thymus nicht notwendig zu sein. In Abhängigkeit von Zeit und Alter der Tiere zeigten sich Unterschiede in der Stärke der Immunreaktion.     

Brain growth and learning behaviour of the guinea-pig following prenatal hyperthermia

Zusammenfassung Trächtige Meerschweinchen wurden während verschiedenen Schwangerschaftsperioden für je 1 Stunde bei einer Umgebungstemperatur von 42–43°C erhitzt. Ihre Jungen zeigten im nicht-räumlichen Unterscheidungstest periodenabhängige Ausfallserscheinungen. Verkleinerungen des Gesamtgehirns und der einzelnen Hirnteile als Hitzeeffekt erwiesen sich ebenfalls als periodenbezogen.     

The effect of pinealectomy and thymectomy on the immune capacity of the rat

Zusammenfassung Kurze Zeit nach Exstirpation des Corpus pineale wird eine abgeschwächte primäre, längere Zeit danach eine verstärkte sekundäre Immunreaktion festgestellt. Nach Thymectomie kommt es zuerst zu einer Hemmung, später zu einer Förderung der Immunreaktion. Corpus pineale und Thymus beeinflussen sich gegenseitig immunologisch.
