Technical college students often commit different oral errors in their English learning. The type of students’spoken English errors is analyzed in this paper and the common errors are classified into four groups: phonological errors, lexical errors, grammatical errors and pragmatic errors. The result shows that lexical errors and grammatical errors are more common for learners from technical colleges.  相似文献

Children are the center of young learner’s English teaching. Their motivation and interest are capable of guiding them English learning effectively. Nowadays, educators from home and abroad believe that learning a foreign language means learning a great deal of the foreign civilization and culture. And the utmost goal of language teaching is to cultivate EFL learners’communicative competence, but not merely the linguistic knowledge. Thus, teaching a foreign language is more than teaching new words, expressions and grammar rules, but should also incorporate the target culture elements into language knowledge. In order to improve EFL learners’English proficiency, teachers must make efforts to cultivate EFL learners’intercultural competence and promote their sensibility and adaptability to the differences between Chinese culture and the Western culture. Only by doing so, can EFL learners communicate with native speakers appropriately and smoothly. This study airm to explore the choice of language learning strategies between more and lesssuccessful Bai high school EFL learners for whom English is learned as a third language. Sixteen Bai EFLlearners were involved in the current study. A background questionnaire and the Oxford‘ s SILL Question-naire were administered to the participants, and semi - structured interviews were conducted. The reported data indicate that successful learners employed more strategies than less successful ones did andnitive strategies best predicted learning success. Individual strategies used by both successful and lesssuccessful Bai EFL learners were outlined and discussed. The paper concludes with implications of the studyand recommendations for the extension of research in this area.  相似文献

The thesis analyzes cognitive mechanism of metaphor at first and finds that metaphor has strong cognitive power and that metaphor cognition has played a significant role in language development. Then the author thinks that language acquisition is also a kind of cognitive activity after discussing acquisition mechanism of English learners. As we know, vocabulary plays an important role for English learners. With the coming of the age of Internet in 21 st century, Internet becomes the propeller to the development of society and economy, which, in turn, urshes us into a brand-new period. Meanwhile, the development of Internet also affects English vocabulary. First of all, this paper summarizes the development stages of English cyber word, followed by an introduction of the definition of the English cyber word, and then it elaborates the properties of English cyber word. Later, the paper attempts to account for the strategies of English cyber word from six approaches, which are the compounding approach, the derivation approach, using special mark approach, special mnemonics approach, transliteration approach and free translation approach. Singapore is a multi-cultural and multi-lingual society with four different major languages (Chinese,English,Malay and Tamil). Each language or dialect exerts its influence on the way English is spoken. It is too difficult to maintain the purity of English. Culture can be divided into material aspect-the products of a people's art and technology and non-material aspect-a people's customs,beliefs,values and patterns of communication.The communication between cultures is possible because of the similar principles that guide the interaction as well as the different perceptions and symbol system that cause the various thought patterns,cognitive types and pragmatic competence.So is it in Chinese and English,the typical version of Oriental and Western culture.This paper is designed to present the cultural differences in thought patterns and the influences on the English writing.Since Chinglish,the term that the English native describes the embarrassing usage of English is serous and alarming for the second language learning,it is of primary importance to inform the learners in order to avoid the negative transfer.Especially the college learners are undertaking the double task of communication and academy.The risk of pragmatic failure would be reduced as few as possible if they are conscious of such thought patterns and its influence on the writing practice.The analysis is of help for the college learners to be as native as possible in writing.  相似文献
