Summary The inhibition of RNA synthesis by -amanitin on vitro cultured cells is very slow. The action of various analogues of the toxin was tested and some of them proved more effective. Moreover pretreatment of cell cultures with DEAE-dextran greatly enhanced the effect of -amanitin.Acknowledgments. We thank ProfessorTh. Wieland and Dr.H. Summary Chick embryo liver primary cultures, when added with progesterone, exhibit, in comparison with the controls, a normal growth, a decline of both3H-uridine uptake and incorporation into total RNA, a decline of3H-leucine and14C serine incorporation into the proteins. Summary Dihalogenmethylenebisphosphonates increase alkaline phosphatase activity and fatty acid oxidation in calvaria cells in culture (Cl2MBP>Br2MBPF2MBP). The monohalogen C1MBP and the non-halogenated analogues are less active on phosphatase and inactive on or inhibitory towards fatty acid oxidation. Summary Increasing the content of human serum low density lipoprotein in the growth medium led to greater incorporation of35S-sulfate into proteoglycan (mostly into dermatan sulfate) by primary aorta cells but did not affect similar incorporation by fibroblast cells. These results suggest a mechanism which can explain the increased deposition of lipid in aorta due to hyperlipidemia.Acknowledgements. Summary The present report deals with the effect of excessive ingestion of fluoride on glycosaminoglycan (GAG). Increase in fluoride deposition in bone, and in circulating levels of fluoride in serum, are also reported. Among the 3 constituents of GAG investigated; hexosamine, uronic acid and sulphate, the content remained unaltered except for sulphate.Acknowledgment. An investigation of the effect of cAMP on heme synthesis of rat bone marrow cells revealed that at 10(-2) M this cyclic nucleotide inhibits heme synthesis and that optimum stimulation occurs at 10(-4) M. Some unidentified constituent of fetal calf serum in the culture medium modifies the direction and degree of cAMP's effect.  相似文献
