Summary The influence on the development of the outer segments of the rat retina of far red and red light in different sequences was investigated. The far red treatment appeared to be dominating, and for animals treated with far red light first, further treatment of red light could not bring the outer segment growth back to normal. The treatments also initiated different dopamine uptakes in the retinas.  相似文献

Summary Urine specimens from healthy children were concentrated and filtered through Sephadex G-100 and G-25. The eluate was recovered in fractions of 5 ml each. Total hexoses, galactose, total proteins and total uronic acids were determined on each fraction. Total hexoses and galactose were eluted in 6 distinct peaks. The uronic acid containing GAG were eluted in 4 small peaks on G-25 and 1 peak on G-100. This peak is eluted always with high amounts of galactose containing glycoproteins.This work was partially supported by research grants from the CONICET, República Argentina.  相似文献

Gross elevations in the uronic acid and hexosamine contents were found in Hurler livers compared with the normal ones. Summary Rabbit polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) were capped with territin-conjugated concanavalin A or ricin, and then allowed to phagocytose yeast cells. Phagocytic activity and lectin distribution were determined by ultrastructural morphometry. Capped PMNs were found to phagocytose as efficiently as control PMNs, and always to ingest the particles with a lectin-free portion of their plasma membrane. This clearly indicates that concanavalin A- and ricin-binding sites of the PMN membrane are not involved in the recognition and phagocytosis of yeast particles.  相似文献

The effect of corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) and pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC)-derived peptides on hemocyte phagocytosis in two molluscs,Planorbarius corneus andViviparus ater was studied. The peptides and related fragments examined are those which have been shown to influence hemocyte motility in the two species. The results obtained revealed that the effects on phagocytosis are not directly correlated with previous findings on cell motility. Furthermore, the mode of action of an individual peptide could be species-specific and dose-dependent. The relationships between peptides, locomotion and phagocytosis in these molluscs are discussed.  相似文献

Riassunto Con metodi morfometrici è stato studiato l'effetto di dosi parafisiologiche di corticosterone sulle cellule corticosurrenaliche (zona fascicolata) di ratti ipofisectomizzati trattati con dosi di mantenimento di ACTH. I dati ottenuti indicano che tali dosi di ormone inibiscono direttamente la funzionalità delle cellule corticosurrenaliche. Questi risultati suggeriscono che la componente periferica dei meccanismi a feed-back che intervengono nella regolazione della funzione corticosurrenalica, giochi un ruolo fisiologico significativo.  相似文献
