A new flavone glycoside from the fernPteris cretica

A new flavone glycoside isolated from the fernPteris cretica has been shown to be luteolin 7-O-robinobioside (1) by chemical and spectral methods. In addition luteolin 7-O-rutinoside (2) and luteolin 7-O-glucoside (3) have been isolated from this plant. Flavonoid2 is reported for the first time in ferns.

Isolation and structure of N α -formyl melittin

Zusammenfassung Bienengift wurde durch Gelfiltration in seine Komponenten aufgetrennt. Aus der Melittinfraktion wurde neben Melittin eine elektrophoretisch langsamer wandernde Komponente isoliert, die als N -Formyl-Melittin identifiziert wurde. Diese Struktur wurde auch durch Synthese bestätigt.

Helminthosporoside,a host-specific toxin fromHelminthosporium sacchari: A structure revision and a new partial structure

Summary Reevaluation of the previously proposed structure of helminthosporoside, a host-specific toxin fromHelminthosporium sacchari, reveals a sesquiterpenoid bis-digalactoside. The carbohydrate portion of the toxin was characterized by¹³C-NMR spectroscopy, methylation analyses, FD and FAB mass spectroscopy. The ring size and anomeric configuration of the galactose moieties were determined by utilizing a¹³C-NMR structural analysis method. A new partial structure is proposed.Acknowledgment. A new,unexpected marine source of a molting hormone. Isolation of ecdysterone in large amounts from the zoanthidGerardia savaglia

Summary Ecdysterone was found in large amounts in the Mediterranean zoanthidGerardia savaglia both immediately after its collection and after it had been kept for 15 months in an aquarium.
