Spore germination inHebeloma stimulated by living plant roots

Summary Basidiospores from 14 strains ofHebeloma (Agaricales) representing 5 groups of mycorrhiza-forming species were tested for germination on a nutrient agar medium. Germination occurred in 13 strains but never exceeded 0.1%. A 10-fold increase or more in germination percentage was obtained in 4 out of 7 tested spore collections only by placing the growing root of a pine seedling among the spores on the agar medium.This investigation was in part supported by a grant from the Swedish National Science Research Council.The authors wish to thank Dr G. Cellular location of adrenergic amines in frog sympathetic ganglia

Zusammenfassung Die Lokalisation von Adrenalin in den sympathischen Ganglien (Frosch) wird mit Hilfe einer histo-fluorometrischen Methode untersucht. Es konnte Fluoreszenz in zahlreichen Zellen des Ganglions und in den aus den Zellen austretenden Axonen festgestellt werden. Fluoreszierende Nerven, die in Ganglien-Zellen eintreten, wurden nicht beobachtet, so dass die Fluoreszenz auf Adrenalin zurückzuführen sein dürfte.

Distribution of polychlorinated biphenyls: Structural requirements for accumulation in the mouse bronchial mucosa

Summary Autoradiography showed that labelled polychlorinated biphenyls with chlorine in positions 2, 4¹, 5 and hydrogen in positions 3, 3¹, 6, 6¹ in the molecule are accumulated in the mouse bronchial mucosa. Further testing of this observation showed that 2, 2¹, 4, 5¹-tetrachlorbiphenyl-¹⁴C, but not biphenyl-¹⁴C, was taken up in the bronchi of mice.This investigation was supported by the National Swedish Environment Protection Board.     

Interaction of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) with cholinergic stimulation of glucagon secretion

Summary VIP-containing nerve fibers as well as cholinergic nerve fibers have a ubiquitous distribution in the body and both types of nerves have been demonstrated to innervate the pancreatic islets. The present study shows, in the intact, conscious mouse, that VIP and the cholinergic agonist carbachol stimulate glucagon secretion in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore VIP and carbachol were found to exert potentiating interactions on glucagon secretion. These results suggest the existence of an interactive neural regulation of glucagon secretion, exerted by acetylcholine and VIP.We thank Professor V. Imparied bone resorption of cultured calvaria from mice with abnormal lysosomal function (the Chediak-Higashi syndrome)

Summary Spontaneous bone resorption is reduced in cultured calvarial bones from mice with the Chediak-Higashi syndrome, as indicated by decreased mobilization of calcium from the bones to the medium. Although bone resorption in calvaria from mice with this disease can be stimulated by PGE₂ and 1 (OH)D₃, the amounts of mineral released after stimulation is also decreased.This investigation was supported by grants from the Swedish Association against Rheumatic Diseases, from the Royal 80 Year Fund of King Gustav V, and from the Swedish Medical Research Council (project No 14X-05426).     

Early changes of cyclic nucleotide levels in a mitogenic reaction in the rat mesentery

Summary By measuring simultaneously cAMP and cGMP we found a biphasic time course with regard to cGMP and the cGMP/cAMP ratio very early in a mitogenic reaction in vivo. 基于SVM的环境减灾卫星HJ-1B影像作物分类识别研究

环境减灾卫星作为我国自主研制发射的环境与灾害监测预报卫星,要发挥它的作用就是要更好的使用其数据源。支持向量机（SupportVectorMachine,SVM）是一种卓越的分类方法,本文通过SVM方法对环境减灾卫星14J-1B星CCD影像数据进行作物分类识别实验并将结果与最大似然法分类结果进行比较。结果表明：利用SVM方法进行遥感图像分类,精度优于传统的最大似然法分类精度;HJ—1A／1B星CCD数据对于农作物具有较好的指示效果,可应用于作物识别等农业领域。     

Occurrence of trichochromes in the urine of a melanoma patient

Labelling of ribosomal RNA peaks in the liver of rats after administration of tritiated fluorouracil

Zusammenfassung Nach i.p. Injektion von 5-Fluorouracil-³H wurde bei Ratten zu verschiedenen Zeiten die RNS-Neubildung der Leber bestimmt. Die Resultate sprechen dafür, dass Fluorouracil in die ribosomale RNA der Leber eingebaut wird.

Enantiomeric cannabinoids: stereospecificity of psychotropic activity

Summary The 1,1-dimethylheptyl homolog of (–)-(3R,4R)-7-hydroxy-delta-6-tetrahydrocannabinol (compoundII) is highly psychotropic in mice, rats and pigeons. The (+)-(3S,4S) enantiomer (III) was found to be psychotropically inactive at doses up to several thousand times those of the ED₅₀ of (II).We thank Dr A. Breuer and Mrs H. Immunohistochemical localization of pancreatic polypeptide (PP) in the brain of the larval instar of the hoverfly,Eristalis aenus (Diptera)

Summary 2 pancreatic polypeptide (PP) immunoreactive cells were observed in each half of the protocerebrum of the last (5th), larval instar of the hoverfly,Eristalis aenus. Isolation of 2-S-cysteinyldopa and 2,5-S,S-dicysteinyldopa from the urine of patients with melanoma

The effect of hexamethonium on the secretion induced by sodium deoxycholate in the rat jejunum

Summary The i.v. administration of hexamethonium reduces or abolishes net water secretion induced by sodium deoxycholate in the denervated rat jejunum. The effect of Apamin® on nonadrenergic,noncholinergic nervous vasodilatations in the cat small intestine

Summary The intestinal vasodilation evoked by mechanical mucosal stimulation or by transmural electrical field stimulation was abolished by close i.a. injection of Apamin, a polypeptide originally isolated from bee venom. Apamin also blocked the vasodilatation induced by close i.a. infusion of vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP). Phaeomelanic pigments from a human melanoma

Summary The pigments in melanomas from 2 patients were studied with regard to solubility and chemical composition. Melanoma pigment from a patient with red-blonde hair was alkali-soluble and contained 9 or 10% sulfur and was thus of phaeomelanic type. Melanoma pigment from a patient with red-brown hair was insoluble in 0.2N NaOH. Its sulfur content was 6%. The effect of lidocaine on the secretion induced by cholera toxin in the cat small intestine

Summary The intraluminal administration of lidocaine, a local anaesthetic agent, inhibits the net loss of fluid into the intestinal lumen produced by cholera toxin in the cat. Beta1-adrenoceptor mediated salivary gland enlargement in the rat

Summary In the rat, prolonged activation of ₁-adrenoceptors causes a gain in salivary gland weight, whereas prolonged blockade of these receptors causes a reduction in weight.This work was supported by grants to J.E. from the Medical Faculty in Lund and the Swedish Medical Research Council (05927).     

Evidence for the presence of virus in clonal insulin-producing RINm5F cells

Summary The ultrastructural morphology of the clonal insulin-producing cell line, RINm5F, was investigated. Virus-like particles, probably C type viruses, were identified both intra- and extracellularly. Because these particles could not be found in the original transplantable tumor, it is probable that viruses were induced at some later stage in the development of the RINm5F cell line.
