At 15 degrees C, the oxygen uptake rate of Carcinus maenas was practically independent of the ambient oxygen pressure betueen 50 and 500 Torr. Within this range, hyperventilatory and hypoventilatory responses were observed in hypoxic and hyperoxic conditions respectively whereas the oxygen extraction coefficient remained more or less constant. 相似文献

When the crab Carcinus maenas respires in hypercapnic water, a respiratory acidosis occurs, which is progressively compensated by a rise of the blood bicarbonate concentration. The CO2 partial pressure in the blood increases in proportion to the change in ambient CO2 partial pressure. Therefore, the regulation of the acid-base status depends mainly on non-respiratory adjustments of the blood bicarbonate concentrations. 相似文献

Summary Epicuticle is not included as any part of the repair cuticle that closes integumental lesions in crabs receiving multiple injections of molting hormone (20-hydroxyecdysone) before and/or after damage to the integument. Summary Movements of the crab gill bailer were entrained to an alternating current applied to the thoracic ganglion. There was little distortion of the muscle recruitment cycle, both absolute and relative coordination were observed, and the phase of the driven system in the driving cycle was a function of the difference between free running and driving frequencies.I am grateful to ProfessorK. These compounds inhibit in vitro the methylation of E. coli B tRNA and of Calf thymus histones with S-adenosylmethionine methyl-14C as methyl donor and methylases from Crab testis. Summary 2 C18 isoprenoid ketones, hexahydrofarnesylacetone (1) and farnesylacetone (2) have been identified for the first time in lipid extracts from the androgenic glands of the male crab Carcinus maenas, using coupled gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Cutaneous oxygen consumption (Mo2) and cutaneous oxygen uptake from the external medium were investigated in an elasmobranch Scyliorhinus caniculus L. In spite of an important Mo2 (2.75 +/- 0.28 nmol.mn-1 cm-2 ; n=6) a positive net flux of oxygen through the skin takes place (2.98 +/- 0.33 nmol. mn-1 .cm-2). The skin of the dogfish in an exchanger for oxygen supplying 10% of oxygen requirements of other organs of the body in these experimental conditions (t = 13 degrees C). 相似文献
