Sleep in the giant South American armadilloPriodontes giganteus (Edentata,Mammalia)

Résumé Les auteurs mettent en évidence l'existence d'un sommeil R.E.M. chez lePriodontes giganteus, le plus grand Tatou actuellement vivant. A une température ambiante inférieure à 28°C, on observe un tremblement intense au cours du sommeil lent, qui disparaît complètement lors du sommeil R.E.M.     

Metabolism of C19-steroids in testicular tissue of the newtTriturus vulgaris,during and after breeding

Summary Incubation studies with testicular homogenates ofTriturus vulgaris showed that testosterone was quantitatively the most important metabolite of dehydroepiandrosterone and androstenedione during breeding. After breeding the recovery of testosterone declined. This suggests that 17-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase may be regulated for the needs of testicular androgen production.     

Inhibition of lens regeneration in the eye of the adult newt,Diemictylus viridescens

Résumé La comparaison immunoéléctrophorétique d'extrait du cristallin de salamandre avec de l'extrait du cristallin de poulet a montré que la différence essentielle réside dans le caractère antigénétique du-cristallin. La régénération du cristallin fut inhibée par les matières extraites du cristallin de salamandre mais non pas par celles qui provenaient du cristallin de poulet.

Effect of testosterone and 17-beta estradiol on limb regeneration in the newt, Notophthalmus viridescens

Gonadectomy, or injections of testosterone or 17-beta estradiol, had no apparent effect on the rate of regeneration or histological appearance of limb regenerates in the newt, Notophthalmus viridescens. Neither promotion, nor inhibition of limb regeneration was observed.
