Summary Both 5-hydroxy-1-methylhydantoin (3) and the hitherto unrecognized 5-hydroxycreatinine (2-amino-5-hydroxy-1-methyl-imidazol-4(5H)-one or creatol) (6) can be isolated from the urine of uremic patients, in whom these compounds probably arise as oxidative metabolites of creatinine (1). The enhanced production of the well-known uremic toxin, methylguanidine (8), from creatinine (1) in such patients, almost certainly occurs via the newly recognized metabolite (6).  相似文献

Chemical studies of the Caribbean red algaVidalia obtusaloba have resulted in the isolation of two new bromophenolic metabolites, vidalols A and B (1, 2). The new compounds were discovered as part of an organized effort to isolate new naturally-occurring anti-inflammatory agents with a focus upon those which may function through the inhibition of phospholipase A2.  相似文献

Summary Caldariella Acidophila, a thermophilic bacterium, converts porgesterone (1) to pregn-4-en-3,6,20-trione (2), 5a-pregnan-3, 6, 20-trione (3), pregn-4-en-20a-ol-3-one (4), pregn-4-6-ol-3, 20-dione (5) and pregn-4-en-6a-ol-3, 20-dione (6). Different patterns of these metabolites were obtained by modifying the incubation conditions and using differently treated biocatalysis.  相似文献

Summary Two pigments responsible for the yellow-orange color of a brown conidiating mutant of the deuteromyceteTrichoderma viride were isolated and spectroscopically identified as 1,3,6,8-tetrahydroxyanthraquinone (I) and 1-acetyl-2,4,5,7-tetrahydroxy-9,10-anthracenedione (II). Both compounds are known substances but were not yet reported as metabolites of this fungal species. Their relationship to other anthraquinones produced byT. viride is discussed.Dedicated to Dr Z. Summary Three nitrogenous sesquiterpenoids (4–6), possessing an isocyanide, isothiocyanate or formylamino function, have been isolated from the marine spongeAxinella cannabina. The proposed structures were based on interpretation of spectral data including 2D-NMR techniques and chemical evidence. A plausible pathway for the biogenesis of these compounds and the co-occurring spiro-axane (1–3) metabolites is proposed.Work supported by C.N.R. Summary Five unusual amino acids were identified as antimutagens against spontaneous mutation ofSalmonella typhimurium TA100: L-azetidine-2-carboxylic acid (1) from Liliaceae plants, -(methylenecyclopropyl)glycine (2) fromLitchi chinensis seeds, and 2-amino-4-methylhex-5-ynoic acid (3), hypoglycin A (4), and (2S, 4R)-2-amino-4-hydroxyhept-6-ynoic acid (5) fromEuphoria longana seeds. A new 9,11-secosteroid, stellettasterol (1) was isolated from a Japanese marine sponge,Stelletta sp.; its structure was determined by spectroscopic analysis. 2′-O-Methylinosine (1) has been isolated for the first time and shown to be an intrinsic hypotensive principle. Its probable in vivo precursor, 2′-O-methyladenosine (3), showed stronger and even orally potent hypotensive activity. Resistance of the methyladenosine (3) against adenosine deaminase is thought to contribute to its long-lasting activity. The effect of both nucleosides (1 and 3) was not accompanied with any significant change in heart rate, which is often observed with adenosine. Summary During screening of animal metabolites which induce drought resistance in plants, two diketopiperazines, cyclo(L-Hyp-L-Pro) (1) and cyclo(L-Hyp-L-Leu) (2), emerged as effective. When rice seeds were pretreated with the cyclic dipeptides (1 and2) during their germination period, the resulting seedlings showed significant resistance to water-stress caused by 0.5–1.5% NaCl solution or 2.5–5.0% mannitol solution.  相似文献

Summary For the first time we have isolated a major psychoactive cannabinoid, (3R, 4R)- 1(6)-tetrahydrocannabinol3 from callus cultures ofCannabis sativa L.3 was obtained as an artefact of the actually formed (3R, 4R)- 1-tetrahydrocannabinol-3- and/or 5-carboxylic acids1 and2 by subjecting the culture material to a decarboxylation step prior to extraction. No attempt was made to isolated acids1 and2. The identity of3 was confirmed by comparison with an authentic sample of (3R, 4R)- 1-tetrahydrocannabinol. Culture conditions, isolation procedure and identification of the cannabinoid are described.Acknowledgment. The authors are greatly indebted to Dr W. Heller and Dr G. Summary Several polyoxygenated steroids (1, 2, 3) have been isolated from the marine gorgonianLeptogorgia sarmentosa. One of these (1) is the known guggulsterol III, previously found in the pharmacologically active resin from the treeCommiphora mukul; the others,2 and3, have not been found before in nature, and are closely related to1. Summary Propanedioldehydrase is shown to convert both (+)-(S)-2-2H-propanediol,3, and (–)-(R)-1-2H2-propanediol,5, to specimens of deuterated propion-aldehyde, for which the (S)-configuration has been established. Thus, in the propanedioldehydrase reaction migration of hydrogen atoms from C–1 to C–2 always occurs with inversion of configuration.  相似文献

Summary Polygodial (1), the defense metabolite stored in the skin of the nudibranchDendrodoris limbata, is toxic for the mollusc itself when injected into the hepatopancreas. Biosynthetic experiments using labeled mevalonic acid were devised to investigate a possible metabolic relationship between1 and the mixture of sesquiterpenoidic esters2, stored in the hepatopancreas.
