Isolation of 2-acetyl-2-decarboxamidotetracycline from cultures ofStreptomyces psammoticus

Riassunto LoStreptomyces psammoticus produce in coltura sommersa oltre a preponderanti quantità di tetraciclina anche piccole quantità di 2-acetil-2-decarbossamidotetraciclina. Sono riportati i dati cromatografici per distinguere qualitativamente la 2-acetil-2-decarbossamidotetraciclina dalle più comuni tetracicline.     

Isolation of a growth-stimulating agent from human skin fibroblast cultures

Summary Cell-free supernatants were harvested from cultures of human skin fibroblasts, were applied on to DEAE-cellulose columns, and the first fraction eluted with phosphate-buffered saline contained the growth-stimulating agent. The eluted fraction was then passed through a series of amicon membranes. After passing through PM-10, the filtrate stimulated growth of bovine vascular endothelial, canine myocardial, and human mammary carcinoma cells.     

Isolation of di-N-2-propylpentyl phthalate from human urine

Summary A higher percentage of di-N-2 propylpentyl phthalate isolated from the urine of the normals and a lower quantity in the patients suffering from Eales' disease accompanied with the occurrence in patients of another compound which is also most likely a phthalate ester has been correlated with the Eales' disease.Acknowledgement. Two sulfur-containing ansamycin antibiotics from Streptomyces albolongus

Two sulfur-containing ansamycin antibiotics were isolated from the culture broth of Streptomyces albolongus C-46366; the major one was identical with awamycin and the minor one was a new ansamycin antibiotic, ansathiazin. Their structures were elucidated from their reactions and spectroscopic analyses. These antibiotics were active against gram-positive bacteria, acid-fast bacteria and a protozoan.     

Isolation of pathogenic treponemes from hare

Summary A presumably new species of pathogenic treponemes was isolated from a lesion on the male organs of hare (Lepus sp.) and the scrotum of a rabbit (Oryctolagus sp.) was infected with this treponeme. Lesion developed on the scrotum after a 110-day incubation.     

Isolation of O-acetyltyrosylvaline from pig neurohypophysis

Zusammenfassung Die Isolierung des PeptidsO-Acetyltyrosylvalin aus Schweins-Hypophyse wurde beschrieben und die Strukturaufklärung mittels Massenspektrometrie des DNP-Peptid-methylesters ermittelt.     

Monolayer cultures of perikarya isolated from postnatal rat cerebellum

Summary Viable cerebellar perikarya of mixed cell type obtained from 7–9-day-old rats were maintained in monolayer culture for up to 12 days. During this time extensive neurite formation and outgrowth occurred. The large majority of the cells developing in culture were tentatively identified as granule neurons. This identification was based on the large number isolated from the starting tissue, and the cells general morphological features in culture such as perikaryal and nuclear size, the bipolar nature of neurite extension, and their migratory behaviour.D.N. Isolation of 2-S-cysteinyldopa and 2,5-S,S-dicysteinyldopa from the urine of patients with melanoma
