Zusammenfassung Die simultane Registrierung des EKG und des Karotisblutdrucks am Kaninchen in der Frühphase des anaphylaktischen Schocks lässt auf eine primäre Herzreaktion schliessen, welche, nicht auf einer Verminderung des Blutdrucks, bzw. des koronaren Perfusionsdrucks, sondern auf einer vorwiegend infolge Koronarkonstriktion eintretenden Abnahme der Herzleistung zu beruhen scheint.     

Influence of oxidative phosphorylation inhibitors on the histamine release in the anaphylactic reactionin vitro

Résumé Des expériences ont été faites pour étudier l'influence des inhibiteurs de la phosphorylation oxydative sur la libération d'histamine pendant la réaction anaphylactique.Une inhibition de la libération d'histamine a été observée, suggérant que des composés phosphorylés riches en énergie sont liés au mécanisme de libération.

Study of prostaglandin synthesis during anaphylactic shock in guinea pigs]

In guinea pigs actively sensitized with ovalbumin and shocked, we have measured blood histamine and histaminase, pulmonary content in cycli AMP and prostaglandins (PG) E1, E2 and F2alpha. In pulmonary efferent blood, both PGE and PGF are increased. In lung tissue, only PGF2alpha, which are bronchoconstructive mediators, are increased. Th increased level in PG seems to have two origins: first a specific increase, then an increased synthesis secondary to histamine release.     

Production of active and passive anaphylactic shock in the WBB6F1 mouse, a mast cell-deficient strain

The role of mast cells in active and passive anaphylactic shock was examined using the WBB6F1 mouse, a genetically mast cell-deficient strain. Lethal anaphylactic shock occurred at high incidence rates in mice actively sensitized to bovine serum albumin (BSA). The reaction was specific to BSA since the shock could not be elicited by human or guinea pig serum albumin in these animals. Lethal shock could be prevented by CV-3988 but not by cyproheptadine, which suggests that the shock is mediated by PAF but not by histamine and serotonin. Similarly, lethal shock was provoked by homologous antigens in mice which had been passively sensitized with allogeneic anti-benzylpenicilloyl (BPO) IgG1 monoclonal antibody or with allogeneic or xenogeneic anti-BSA antiserum, but not in those sensitized with allogeneic anti-BPO IgE monoclonal antibody. These findings suggest that mast cells are not necessarily required for anaphylactic shock in the mouse.

Enzymatic reactions in the presence of non-ionic polymers

Zusammenfassung Die enzymatische Spaltungsgeschwindigkeit von synthetischer hochmolekularer Stärke mit-Amylase wird in Gegenwart von neutralen (nicht ionogenen) Polymeren erhöht. Die katalytische Wirkung hängt von der Konzentration des Polymeren und dessen Molekulargewicht ab. Die Zunahme der-Amylase-Hemmung durch spezifische-Amylase-Antikörper in Gegenwart von neutralem Dextran wird nachgewiesen.     

Effect of pectin and cellulose on formation and regression of gallstones in hamsters

Male Syrian hamsters were fed a lithogenic diet containing 7% cellulose or 4.2% pectin. After 50 days, pectin was 76% and cellulose 64% less lithogenic than the control diet. Hamsters fed the control diet for 50 days were maintained on that diet for another 50 days or fed diets containing cellulose or pectin. There was a 52% increase in gallstone incidence in hamsters continued on the control diet and a 9% increase in those on cellulose. Pectin promoted regression of gallstones (by 52%).
