Recent years have seen a resurgence of interest in the role of grammar in English language teaching. Grammar teaching has become a preoccupation among more and more language researchers and teachers. This paper sets out to compare the views of grammar teaching in the Grammar-Translation, Audio-Lingual and Communicative Approaches from the following five points, the status of grammar teaching, the different methods in the instruction of grammar, the teacher’s role in grammar teaching, the characteristics of typical teaching activities in the three approaches with detailed examples and the effect of the three approaches to grammar teaching.It is concluded that grammar teaching should subscribe to an eclectic approach, that is, to take advantage of the strong points of each approach and avoid their weak points. Moreover, grammar teaching should be conducted according to the variables of learners and teaching circumstances.  相似文献

There will be a comparison between those classes and TEFL classes in China, including background of different education systems and different teaching methodologies and approaches. In the end, some suggestions will be given to Chinese TEFL classes. In order to improve the teaching evaluation effect,it is very significant to study the teachers evaluation indicator system and offer the algorithm of the evaluation methods.The teachers evaluation indicator system includes two parts:one part is the solid indicator of the teaching activities,that is,the fixed indicator;the other part is the Soft indicator of the teaching activities,that is,the Fuzzy indicator.The solid indicator contains lessons,hours,achievements,etc;the Fuzzy indicator consists of teachers qualification,teaching methods,student understanding and satisfaction,etc.,which can not be easily measured by fixed values.Fuzzy indicator holds an important position during teaching evaluation.Since there are no better indicator systems and quantified algorithm in higher education institutes these days,we will focus on studying the fuzzy indicator system here.  相似文献

Schema theory indicates that prior knowledge forms a schema in the mind and this will inevitably influence reading comprehension. Therefore, in the teaching of reading, teachers should find ways to activate the schemata in the mind of the students. Titles, headlines and pictures in a text may serve the function. All texts are related to cultnre to some degree, especially in the case of texts introducing foreign cultures. Therefore, it is also important to integrate cultural factors in teaching, which will form new schemata in the mind of the students. Besides that, teaching materials should be chosen in accordance with the students' level of knowledge. New knowledge should be kept in an appropriate proportion to the old knowledge. Only in this way can the schemata stored in the mind of the students be activated easily, and new knowledge will also be acquired at the same time.  相似文献

The modern teaching principles regard teaching process as the one of teacher-student communication,interaction and development. Some scholars therefore suggest that communication is the essence of teaching. Classroom communication is of great practical significance for education. However,a present empirical study shows that the current situation of teacher-student relations and communication in the EFL classroom is not satisfied enough. The teachers’communicative competence in the classroom needs to be improved. Based on factors that affect the teacher-student communication and the suggestion of the present empirical study,this paper suggests 5 ways to improve the classroom communicative competence of EFL teachers: 1) Teachers need to reconstruct and internalize the notion of modern educational communication; 2) Teachers need to apply appropriate teaching methods and teaching techniques; 3) Teachers need to well harmonize the relations between democracy and authority; 4) Teachers need to equally com-municate with all students and respect them; 5) Teachers need to create a communicative teaching environment. In this way we can facilitate the overall development of students.  相似文献
