Modality is used to express subjective judgment as well as the speaker’s opinions and attitudes.This paper aims to analyze the reporters’orientation reflected by linguistic modal expressions in English news reports from the perspective of Systemic-Functional Grammar,especially from the perspective of type,value,orientation and polarity.
