Summary

Diplogrammus (Climacogrammus) pygmaeus sp. nov. is described and compared with other species of the genus Diplogrammus. Features which distinguish it from the allied species are as follows: 1. (1)The combination of four spines in the first dorsal fin, eight rays in the second dorsal fin, and seven rays in the anal fin, with a preopercular spine formula of ;

2. (2)the unusually broad snout (seen from above);

3. (3)the anterior spines of the first dorsal fin in the male elongate but not filamentous;

4. (4)colour markings.

Summary

One hundred and eighty males and 23 female specimens of Geryon tridens from 60 to 110 miles west of Ireland were examined in July 1968.

The carapace length/width relationship was calculated as;

and

where y = carapace length and x = carapace width.

Eleven per cent of the males captured had moulted recently, and one female had recently carried eggs.

The average size of crabs was found to increase from east to west, and it is suggested that the present sample is taken from the western side of the main population. There was no relationship between average size and the depth of the water in which they were caught.  相似文献

A new species of dragonet, Synchiropus novaehiberniensis from off northern New Ireland, Papua New Guinea, is described on the basis of a male and a female specimen collected with a trawl in 74–92 m depth off Kavieng. The new species is characterized within the subgenus Synchiropus (Neosynchiropus) Nalbant, 1979 by a small branchial opening; head short (3.2–3.6 in SL); eye large (2.5–2.6 in head length); preopercular spine with a short, upcurved main tip, three curved points on its dorsal margin, ventral margin and base smooth; first dorsal fin higher than second dorsal fin, with four spines but no filaments, first spine longest; second dorsal fin distally slightly convex, with eight branched rays (last divided at base); anal fin with seven unbranched rays (last divided at base); 21–22 pectoral-fin rays; caudal fin elongate, distally rounded, slightly asymmetrical (upper rays shorter than lower rays); thorax, lower opercle and pelvic-fin base with small ocelli; back in male with four dark brown saddles; anal fin dark grey. The subgenus Synchiropus (Neosynchiropus) is reviewed and distinguished from Synchiropus (Acommissura) subgen. nov. An updated checklist of the species in the two subgenera is provided; the new species is compared with allied species. Revised keys to callionymid fish species of New Guinea, as well as of the subgenera Synchiropus (Neosynchiropus) and Synchiropus (Acommissura) subgen. nov. are presented.

Summary

A new species of Apogon from Indo-West Pacific is described. A. andhrae sp. nov. can be distinguished from the closely related A. ellioti Day by the absence of the pigment band on the anal fin and of pigment spots on the dorsal side of head, and the presence of a narrow black edge to the caudal fin.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In the framework of faunistic research conducted along the Apulian coast of Italy, three new species of thelepodid polychaetes are reported: Streblosoma pseudocomatus sp. nov., S. nogueirai sp. nov. and S. hutchingsae sp. nov. The taxonomic position of S. comatus is clarified and emended as Thelepus comatus. The described species are characterised by their C-shaped arrangement of uncini. The species are compared with their closest congeners and a synoptic table is provided for the species of Streblosma with C-shaped tori.

ABSTRACT

A new species of long-horned beetle, Iarucanga gonzalomartinezi sp. nov., from Bolivian Yungas forest is described and illustrated. This species likely imitates species of the Lycidae genus Plateros.

Bryconaethiops yseuxi Boulenger, 1899 Boulenger, G. A. 1899. Matériaux pour la faune du Congo. Poissons nouveaux du Congo.. Annales du Musée du Congo, Tervuren, Zoologie 1(4: Polypères, Clupes, Mormyres, Characins), : 5996.  [Google Scholar], originally described from “Haut Congo”, is rehabilitated. The species was synonymized, successively with B. microstoma (Günther, 1873 Günther, A. 1873. New fishes from Angola.. Annals and Magazine of Natural History, London (Series 4), 12(68): 142144. [Taylor & Francis Online] [Google Scholar]) and B. macrops Boulenger, 1920 Boulenger, G. A. 1920. Poissons recueillis au Congo belge par l'expédition du Dr. C. Christy.. Annales du Musée du Congo (Série 1), 2(4): 138.  [Google Scholar], subsequently rehabilitated, and then again considered as a junior synonym of B. microstoma. Bryconaethiops yseuxi is here considered as a valid species, easily distinguished from all other Bryconaethiops species by its small size (maximum: 72.2 mm SL), 7.5 rows of scales between the dorsal‐fin origin and the lateral line; 11–13/1/8–12 gill rakers on the first gill arch and long dorsal‐fin and anal‐fin bases, respectively, 15.7–17.6% of SL and 22.7–25.9% of SL.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A new species of Cladochaeta Coquillett, 1900 (Diptera: Drosophilidae) is described, C. amorimi nov. sp. based on a series obtained from pupae associated with nymphs of Sphodroscarta trivirgata (Amyot & Serville, 1843) (Auchenorrhyncha: Aphrophoridae) collected on the National Forest of Caxiuanã in the Brazilian Amazon, State of Pará. The new species belong so the dykra species group, being closely related to Cladochaeta erecta Grimaldi & Nguyen, 1999.

Summary

The following new anatomical features of the gut of Acheta domesticus are described and discussed:
  • 1.A thin-walled dorsal evagination of the oesophagus, which may serve to circulate digestive fluid in the crop.

  • 2.Lateral invaginations of the wall of the posterior oesophagus and anterior crop, separated from the circular muscle layer and allowing considerable enlargement of the foregut during feeding.

  • 3.Strands of muscle and connective tissue linking the caeca and crop to the thoracic cuticle, innervated in part from the prothoracic ganglion, which may serve to register the extent of gut filling.

  • 4.Evidence from the arrangement of the gut tracheae and nerves of rotation of parts of the gut from their original ancestral position, the gizzard and caeca being rotated through 90° and the crop through 180°. It is suggested that these rotations have been necessary to accommodate the gut components to changes in the shape and proportions of the body during the evolution of the cricket lineage.

ABSTRACT

A comprehensive revision of the genus Thalerosphyrus in Thailand is assessed. Four species are recognised: T. flowersi, T. sinuosus, T. vietnamensis and one new species, Thalerosphyrus thailandensis sp. nov., which is described here. A morphological comparison of the described species is provided. A Maximum Likelihood (ML) consensus tree based on 658 bp of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (COI) gene of five species was performed. Uncorrected p-distances strongly support the identity of these species, originally based on morphology, and show differences of 8.4–29.8% between species and 1.4–6.3% within species.
