Lack of pressor effect of dopamine in the pentobarbital-anesthetized rat

Summary The blood pressure and heart rate responses to intravenous dopamine infusion at 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 g·min^–1·100 g^–1 were studied in conscious and pentobarbital-anesthetized Sprague — Dawley rats. In the conscious rats, dopamine caused a significant dose-related increase in the mean arterial blood pressure which was abolished in the anesthetized rats. The heart rate increased significantly only at the highest dose infused. The responses to equipressor doses of noradrenaline (40 ng·min^–1·100 g^–1) and phenylephrine (1.0 g·min^–1·100 g^–1) were also suppressed in the anesthetized rats. The results suggest that pentobarbital anesthesia depresses the blood pressure response to dopamine infusion in the rat through a depression of activation of alpha-adrenoceptors.16 June 1986

Summary The effect of ionizing radiation on the amount of dopamine in corpus striatum was investigated in rats exposed to 650 or 850 R of X-rays. The amount of dopamine in the corpus striatum was measured fluorimetrically in various periods of time after irradiation. It was found that, irrespective of the dose applied, the ionizing radiation caused a significant depletion of dopamine in the striatum.

La carboxypeptidase B in vivo à des doses que produisent l'abolition des effets de la bradykinine et d'autres plasmakinines, ne modifient pas l'action vasopressive soit du plasma incubé soit de sa fraction active.

Sympatho-inhibitory mechanisms acting at sympathetic ganglia to attenuate hypothalamic-induced pressor effect in the cat

Summary Pressor and tachycardic effects induced in the cat by stimulation of a lateral hypothalamic (LH) site, are shown to be mediated by sympathetic ganglia nicotinic receptor, and potentiated under atropine methyl nitrate sympathetic ganglia blockage. It is postulated that a sympatho-inhibitory pathway muscarinic ganglionic mechanism, co-activated by the LH stimulation, attenuates the pressor and tachycardic effects, the potentiation presumably being a manifestation of blockage of that mechanism.

Effect of muscimol on dopamine metabolism of the rat hypothalamus

Summary Muscimol, a potent GABA receptor agonist, produced increases in DOPAC and dopamine concentrations in the rat hypothalamus. Ultractructural changes in rat mammotropes following incubation with dopamine

Cultured mammotropes incubated with dopamine for one hour exhibited changes in ultrastructure indicative of actively depressed biosynthetic and secretory activity. Peripheral relocation of rough endoplasmic reticulum appeared to create a barrier to secretory granule release by exocytosis. A decrease in the numbers of secretory granules indicated a decrease in prolactin production and enhanced lysosomal activity.     

The effects of dopamine on renin release in the isolated perfused rat kidney

Summary In the isolated and perfused kidney of the rat, the stimulant effect of dopamine on renin release is blocked by propanolol and not by haloperidol. This suggests that the release of renin induced by dopamine is due to the activation of \-receptors.     

Lack of gravity effect on the speed of amoeboid locomotion inNaegleria gruberi

Summary The speed of amoeboid locomotion was the same for amoebae moving on the top surface and bottom surface of a horizontal perfusion chamber i.e. cell-substrate adhesive forces must be considerably greater than the gravitational force acting on the locomoting amoeba.Acknowledgments. Hypothalamic monoamines and pineal dopamine during the sexual differentiation of the rat brain

Zusammenfassung Der Gehalt an Monoaminen im Hypothalamus der Ratte wurde während der sexuellen Differenzierung bestimmt, wobei für das hypothalamische Noradrenalin eine signifikante Zunahme zwischen dem 4. und 10. Tag gefunden wurde.

Lack of participation of cytoplasmic choline in the synthesis of acetylcholine in the striatal synaptosomes of the rat]

Synaptosomes prepared from Rat striatum were loaded with (14C) choline at 0 degrees C in the course of a 60 min. preincubation. After the removal, by washing, of the extracellular molecules, synaptosomes were incubated 5 min. at 37 degrees C in the presence of (3H) choline. The measurement of the amounts of (3H) ACh and of (14C) ACh formed allowed us to conclude that the acetylation of the molecules of choline was directly coupled to their passage through the synaptosomal membrane.
