Some factors affect the degradation of (2-chloroethyl) trimethylammonium chloride by wheat plant extracts

Zusammenfassung Extrakte aus Weizenpflanzen enthalten ein System, welches Chlorocholinchlorid zu Cholinchlorid umwandelt. Dieses System wird durch pH, aber nicht durch die Temperatur beeinflusst und hat zwei Komponenten; die erste wird durch ZnCl₂ gefällt, und die andere ist dialysierbar.     

Potentiation of the cancerostatic effect of 6-azauridine and 6-azacytidine with 5-bis-(2-chloroethyl)aminomethyluracil

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass die cancerostatische Wirkung von 6-Azauracil und 6-Azacytidin bei Mäusen durch 5-Bis-(2-chloroethyl)aminomethyluracil signifikant potenziert wird.

On the inhibitory effect of 2-amino-4,6-dichloropyrimidine on growth of vaccinia virus.

2-Amino-4,6-dichloropyrimidine prevents maturation of Vaccinia virus. Proteins synthesized in the presence of the drug are not assembled into virions.     

Reversal of experimental hemorrhagic shock by dimethylphenylpiperazinium (DMPP)

In a rat model of hemorrhagic shock which caused the death of all control rats within 30 min, i.v. injection of the ganglion-stimulating drug dimethylphenylpiperazinium (DMPP) caused a dose-dependent reversal of the shock condition-without the need for reinfusion of the shed blood-starting from the dose of 4 ng/kg i.v. Shock reversal was associated with the mobilization of residual blood and improvement in blood flow, particularly at the carotid level. These results could influence our thinking on pathophysiology and first-aid management of shock.     

The absence of an inhibitory effect of metyrapone (2-methyl-1,2-di (3-pyridyl) propan-1-one) on hepatic microsomal hydroxylation in scurvy.

Microsomes from livers of scorbutic guinea-pigs showed a reduced rate of acetanilide hydroxylation. The response of "scorbutic" liver microsomes to the inhibitor Metyrapone (2-methyl-1,2 di (3-pyridyl) propan-1-one) was different from that of liver microsomes from non-scorbutic guinea-pigs.     

Reversal of the inhibiting effect of 2- chloroethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride on chlorophyll synthesis by sulphur and chlorine

Zusammenfassung 2-Chloroäthyltrimethylammoniumchlorid (CCC) in einer Konzentration, welche das Längenwachstum vonBrassica-Keimlingen um etwa 20% hemmt, senkt den Chlorophyllgehalt um rund 80%. Na- und Mg-Salze (500 ppm) vermögen die Wachstumshemmung teilweise aufzuheben. Mit Cl^– und SO₄—als Anionen beobachtet man zusätzlich eine signifikante Verminderung der CCC-Wirkung auf die Chlorophyllakkumulation.

Summary Kinetin (6-furfurylaminopurine) is rapidly absorbed byLemna minor L. 3 · 10^–8 M/ml medium cause an immediate but temporary stimulation of RNA and protein synthesis during the first hour of the treatment. The following excessive accumulation of starch is considered to be more or less a direct consequence of a disturbed RNA and protein metabolism.     

Primary liver carcinogenesis induced by the pesticide 2-(4-tert-butylphenoxy0-1-methylethyl 2-chloroethyl sulphite (Aramite)]

Wistar rats were fed, during 56 weeks, a diet containing 5 g/kg of Aramite. At the end of the treatment, all the surviving animals show, on anatomo-pathological examination, malignant proliferation of the hepatic tissue and, in certain cases, of biliary ducts. This compound, proposed in the past as acaricide in agriculture, can thus be considered as a model substance for induction of malignant liver tumors.

Zusammenfassung Versuche an Leukämiezellen L 1210 und in vivo-Versuche an DÄNA 435-tragenden R-Ratten haben gezeigt, dass ₂-Makroglobulin selektiv das Tumorwachstum hemmt.

The increase of frost resistance of tomato plants through application of 2-chloroethyl trimethylammonium chloride (CCC)

Zusammenfassung Tomatensamen in CCC-Lösung (Konzentration 500 ppm) ausgekeimt, zeigten aktivierten Keimungsprozess bei niedriger Temperatur. Tomatenkeimlinge in Knops Nährlösung mit Zugabe von CCC (100 und 200 ppm) zeigten wesentlich erhöhte Resistenz gegen niedrige Temperaturen.     

Reversal by lecithin of the amobarbital-induced inhibition of microsomal (Na+K)-activated ATPase

Résumé L'amobarbital de soude inhibe l'activité du (Na+K)-ATPase du réticule sarcoplasmique isolé. Cette inhibition peut être évitée par l'addition de lécithine purifiée. La lécithine pré-incubée en présence de l'amobarbital inhibe (Na+K)-ATPase.     

Electrophysiological characteristics ofBombyx mori L. ventral nerve cord (effect of sodium and potassium on the membrane potential)

Summary Na⁺ and K⁺ effects on the resting cellular membrane potential of desheathed ganglia of theBombyx mori L. ventral nerve cord have been studied. The cells are depolarized by high concentrations of external potassium ions in the same way as in vertebrates, mollusca and crustacean cells. The possibility that the behaviour of the resting potential is not only influenced by the potassium equilibrium potential, but also by the conductances to other ions, is discussed.The authors are indebted to Prof V. Distribution of14C after topical application of14C-labeled 1,3-bis-(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea (BCNU) in mice

Summary Following topical application of¹⁴C-labeled 1,3-bis(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea (BCNU, carmustine) to the skin of mice radioactivity was found in all viscera and tissues examined.
