Situation Analysis of a Faculty’s Library

The CDTF-Library is a library in Chinese-German Technical Faculty of Qingdao University of Science and Technology in Qingdao.It is very small in scale.It only occupies an area of 60 square meters with 3 reading seats and 5000 original German books.The resources of German in domestic are relatively few and German resources are too expensive to buy.During the past years,more and more readers made complaints,against the limited resource of audio and video materials,lack of new books,short open time and unsatisfied technical environments.

Cooperation in an asymmetric volunteer’s dilemma game with relatedness

What motivates some members of a social group to voluntarily incur costs in order to provide for the common good? This question lies at the heart of theoretical and empirical studies of cooperative behavior. This is also the question that underlies the classic volunteer’s dilemma model, which has been previously explored in scenarios where group members are related or interact asym- metrically. Here we present a model that combines asymmetry and relatedness, showing that the probability of volunteerism in such systems depends closely on both the degree of asymmetry and level of relatedness between interacting individuals. As has been shown in previous volunteer’s dilemma models, the payoff ratio and overall group size also influence the probability of volunteerism. The probability of volunteerism decreases with increasing group size or decreasing cost-to-benefit ratio of the coplayers; in the presence of asymmetrical interactions, subordinate players were more likely to offer public goods than the dominant player. More asymmetrical interactions decrease the probability of volunteerism of the dominant player; overall volunteerism increases with increasing relatedness.     

Re-mention of an old neurodegenerative disease: Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease(AD),the most common form of neuropsychiatric disorder,is characterized by neuronal degeneration and inexorably progressing dementia,especially in the elderly population.With a rapidly aging population in both developed and developing countries,AD has emerged as one of the largest growing problems worldwide.Current drugs improve the symptoms of AD,but do not have any profound intervention to delay its onset.Thus,understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the genes tied to AD will be crucial to the development of therapeutic targets.This review will summarize the aetiology,pathology,and the evidence for the genetic components in AD,discuss the proposed amyloid cascade and the following tau hyperphosphorylation hypothesises,oxidative stress mediated neuronal cell death,as well as the function of Retromer complex during the developing of AD.Our laboratory’s current research progress and the challenges that still remained will be also highlighted.     

The Earth’s inner core deviation to plate movement

Under the premise of the Earth’s layer structure and mass distribution, the solid inner core cannot be stable in the center of the sphere. Thus, the deviation of the inner core is towards the sphere’s center and the liquid outer core must have asymmetrical thermal convection. Based on the two suggestions, a concise and self-consistent global motion model can be built. The model consists of the following cycle: an asymmetrical thermal convection structure in the outer core led by the dislocation of the inner core → the plume is in special upwell position because of differential activation → the formation and split of lithosphere → the split plates drift and assemble in a new location, the mass of which causes the inner core to deviate towards this direction again → the new asymmetry is formed. As this circulation continues, a definite and periodical motion emerges/forms. Its nonlinear features result in the Earth’s motion with simple mechanisms but complex behavior. Ultraterrestrial events may disturb or even interrupt this movement but would not significantly affect the cycle.

Inner core’s seismic anisotropy is related to its rotation

The inner core has a differential rotation relative to the crust and mantle, the relative linear velocity between the solid inner core and the molten outer core is the biggest at the equator and zero at pole area. As a result, the inner core grows faster at the equator than at the pole area. The gravitational force drives the material flow from the equator to the pole area and makes the inner core remain quasi-orbicular. The corresponding axial symmetric stress field makesc-axes of hexagonal close packed (hcp) iron align with inner core’s rotation axis, resulting in observed seismic anisotropy.

Applying AHP-Based CBR to Estimate Pavement Maintenance Cost

The cost-efficacy control of maintenance operations in developing countries has become critical to the infrastructure asset management after highway construction. To effectively manage numerous projects annually with limited resources, it is necessary to reasonably estimate costs during the process of making maintenance project selection decisions. This study outlines the modeling of case-based reasoning (CBR) estimation that compares and retrieves the most similar instance across the case library. Four CBR approaches were presented and assessed in terms of their mean absolute prediction error rates. The resulting model demonstrates the ability of estimating the pavement maintenance project costs with the satisfactory accuracy at the early stages.
