Untersuchungen über die β-adrenolytische Wirkung sowie den Einfluss auf Refraktärzeit und Kontraktilität von INPEA und MJ1999 am Meerschweinchenvorhof

Summary In isolated guinea-pig atria, the-adrenolytic isomerd(–)INPEA provoked a stronger prolongation of the refractory period (rp) than did the inactivel(+) isomer. The-adrenolytic drug MJ 1999 prolonged likewise the rp, although it caused no unspecific effect, i.e. an inhibition of contractile force. These observations lead to the conclusion that not only the unspecific local anaesthetic but also the specific-adrenolytic effect is of importance for the prolongation of rp.

Hydrolysis of amino acid β-naphthylamides by aminopeptidases in the parotid gland

Zusammenfassung Die Aktivität der Aminopeptidasen in Ohrspeicheldrüsen wurde gemessen. Glycyl-Prolin-naphthylamid, Alanin-naphthylamid, Leucin-naphthylamid, Methionin-naphthylamid, und Arginin-naphthylamid wurden von der Mikrosomenfraktion und der löslichen Fraktion schnell gespalten. Das Glycyl-Prolin-naphthylamid spaltende Enzym war in Ohrspeicheldrüsen in relativ grösserer Menge vorhanden. Die Aufspaltung von Glycyl-Prolin-naphthylamid in Glycyl-Prolin und-Naphthylamin wurde papierchromatographisch nachgewiesen.     

17β-Hydroxymethyl-Steroide: Darstellung von Derivaten des 17α-Hydroxy-17β-hydroxymethyl-4-androsten-3-ons

Summary Starting from 17-hydroxy-17-hydroxymethyl-4-androsten-3-one, we synthesized 4-chloro-17-hydroxy-17-hydroxymethyl-4-androsten-3-one-17, 20-acetonide and 17-hydroxy-17-hydroxymethyl-1, 4-androstadien-3-one. 11, 17-dihydroxy-17-hydroxymethyl-4-androsten-3-one was obtained from cortisone via methyl-17-hydroxy-3, 11-dioxo-4-etienate.

Summary The synthesis of 17-hydroxy-17-hydroxymethyl-4-androsten-3-one fromReichsteins compound S is described. Transformation of 3,3-ethylenedioxy-17-hydroxy-17-hydroxymethyl-5-androsten into 17-methyl-isotestosterone demonstrates the configuration of the substituents at C-17.

Effect of cadmium chloride on steroidogenic enzymes in the Bidder's organ of the toad (Bufo melanostictus)

Summary Injection of cadmium chloride in a toad increases both the ⁵-3-hydroxy-steroid dehydrogenase and 17-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase activities in Bidder's organ.

Summary Pregnancy specific ₁ (PSG) has been identified in vitro in trophoblast cultures and in vivo, using transmission electron microscopy, in the syncytiotrophoblast, PSG may, like other pregnancy proteins, have immunosuppressive properties.This study was supported by a grant from the Medical Research Council. The effect of steroid treatment on ovarian dehydrogenases in the rat. Histochemical study

Riassunto La valutazione istochimica delle attività 3-idrossisteroide deidrogenasica (3-HSD), glucoso-6-fosfato deidrogenasica (G-6-PD) e 20-idrossisteroide deidrogenasica (20-HSD) a livello dell'ovaio di ratte trattate per 20 giorni con progesterone, testosterone, estradiolo o con l'associazione progesterone-estradiolo, permette di rilevare che, a dosi inibenti l'ovulazione, solo negli animali trattati con estradiolo o con progesterone ed estradiolo si inibisce la comparsa dell'attività 20-HSD nei corpi lutei (C.L.) e si riduce quella 3-HSD e G-6-PD nei follicoli e nella interstiziale.     

Synthese von 22,26-Imino-cholestan-Derivaten

Summary 3, 16-diacetoxy-5-pregnane-20-one and the analogue pregn-5-ene derivative have been converted into (22R, 25R)-22, 26-imino-5-cholestane-3, 16-diol. The configuration at C-22 and C-25 was determined by transformation into the known (22R, 25R)-5-solanidane-3-one. Application of the Ruschig method led to (25R)-22,26-imino-5-cholest-22(N)-ene-3, 16-diol.

How didBernoulli solve the problem? What method did he use for this purpose and which of his accomplishments do we still follow today?In the second part various questions connected to the first part are dealt with from the point of view, Conflict and Cooperation, suggested byJ. van Maanen to the participants of the Groningen conference.     

Ein neues Verfahren zur Herstellung von 19-Norsteroiden

Summary The new methods for the production of 19-norsteroids described involve the conversion of 5-halogen-6-hydroxy-steroids into the corresponding 5-halogen-6:19-ethers either with lead tetraacetate or by the hypoiodite reaction^8,10. The 6:19-oxygen bridge is then opened reductively either directly or after oxidation of the 6:19-ethers to lactones or preferably after introduction of a ^4,6-3-oxo grouping. Acylolytic cleavage of the ⁴-3-oxo-6:19-ethers followed by alkaline hydrolysis gives ^4,6-3-oxo-19-hydroxy-steroids. The 19-hydroxycompounds formed are easily converted into 19-norsteroids by known methods.

Cardenolide glycosides from the adults and eggs ofChrysolina fuliginosa (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)

Besides the known sarmentogenin 3-O--D-allopyranoside (1) and digitoxigenin-3-O-[-D-xylopyranosyl-(14)-2, 3-di-O-acetyl--D-allopyranoside] (4), four new cardiac glycosides (2, 3, 5 and6) have been isolated from the defensive glands of adults ofChrysolina fuliginosa. The structures of the new compounds were determined by¹H NMR at 600 MHz and FABMS. Compounds1–6, present in the adults ofC. fuliginosa, have also been identified in the eggs.     

The synthesis of ecdysone

Zusammenfassung Ecdyson, ein Häutungshormon der Insekten, wurde ausgehend von Ergosterin in 14 Stufen synthetisiert. Wesentliche Zwischenprodukte waren (20S)-2, 3-Diacetoxy-20-formyl-5-pregn-7-en-6-on und (22R)-2, 3-Diacetoxy-14, 22-dihydroxy-25-(tetrahydropyran-2-yloxy)-5-cholest-7-en-6-on.

Zusammenfassung Es wird vorgeschlagen, N--di-(-chloräthyl)-carbamyl-l-arginin (III) als neues Stickstofflost auf cytostatische Wirkung zu untersuchen; dies in der Erwartung, dass III in Krebszellen in höherem Masse zum cytostatisch wirkenden Di-(-chloräthyl)-amin (V) hydrolysiert wird als in normalen Zellen. Das gleichzeitig freiwerdendel-Arginin sollte die Krebszelle noch empfindlicher gegen V machen.

Comparison of the effects of β-palmitoyl lysolecithin and cardiac glycosides in two mammalian tissues

Zusammenfassung 1957 sind vonHajdu et al. Versuche veröffentlicht worden, wonach sich aus verschiedenen Geweben eine Substanz mit Herzglykosid-ähnlicher Wirkung auf Kaltblüterherzen extrahieren lässt, welche als -Palmitoyl-lysolecithin interpretiert wurde. In unseren Versuchen wurde aus Hefe Dipalmitoleyl-lecithin isoliert und daraus durch enzymatische Abspaltung der -ständigen Fettsäure und anschliessende katalytische Hydrierung reines, hämolytisch wirksames -Palmitoyl-lysolecithin hergestellt. Diese Verbindung zeigte jedoch keine den Effekten der Herzglykoside verwandte Wirkung am isolierten Meerschweinchenventrikel sowie an menschlichen Erythrocyten.
