RNA fragments, in vivo inhibitors of Shope fibroma and vaccinia virus multiplication]

RNA-fragments rich in purine nucleotides and resulting from degradation of ribosomal RNA from E. coli M 500 Sho-R with pancreatic RNase exhibit only in vivo an inhibitory effect on Shope fibroma and vaccinia virus multiplication.     

Endothelium-dependent relaxation induced by sodium fluoride in the rabbit ear artery

Summary Sodium fluoride (NaF) produced concentration-dependent relaxation of isolated rabbit ear artery precontracted with norepinephrine. In contrast, an arterial preparation with the endothelium rubbed off did not relax, but contracted in response to NaF. NaF-induced relaxation was not influenced by indomethacin but was inhibited by methylene blue or N^G-monomethyl-L-arginine. The results indicate that NaF relaxes the artery by releasing a so-called EDRF.     

Experimental arthritis in the rabbit induced by group a streptococcal products

Zusammenfassung Intraartikuläre Injektion von Streptolysin-S-freien extrazellulären Produkten der Streptokokken Gruppe A verursacht eine zunächst akute, in der Folge aber subkutane Synovitis. Die Veränderungen gleichen denjenigen nach Injektion von Streptolollensonikaten, so dass angenommen wird, ausser Streptolysin S bedingen auch andere streptokokkale Faktoren eine Arthritis.

Hyperglycemic effect in the rabbit induced by ACTH4-10

In the rabbit, a single i.v. administration of ACTH4-10 (130 micrograms/kg) induces hyperglycemia. As ACTH4-10 also induces hypocalcemia and inhibits insulin secretion, we suggest that hypocalcemia, inhibition of insulin secretion, and hyperglycemia, are closely related.
