Inhibitory effect of some heteropolyanions on potato virus X

Summary Heteropolyanions like 12-tungstozincic acid (i.i.), potassium 13-vanadomanganate (i.v.), potassium 13-vanadonickelate (i.v.) and sodium tungstoborate produced an inhibitory effect on potato virus X. Amongst these, tungstozincic acid was found to be the most potent.The authors are thankful to Prof. R. P. The effect of microcytosis on red cell constituents

Zusammenfassung Der Gehalt an Riboflavin, Azetylcholin-Esterase, Glutamat-Oxalacetat-Transaminase, Glutamat-Pyruvat-Transaminase und Folinsäure wurde in menschlichen Erythrozyten verschiedener Grössenordnung bestimmt. Die Ergebnisse sprechen dafür, dass ihre intrazelluläre Konzentration, im Gegensatz zu derjenigen des Hämoglobins, keinen limitierenden Einfluss auf die Fortdauer der Synthese dieser Stoffe ausübt.

The effect of activated dimethicone,other antacid constituents,and kaolin on the absorption of propranolol

Summary A study was made of the effect of 6 commonly used gastrointestinal preparations on the absorption of propranolol using an in vitro experimental model. The constituents examined were activated dimethicone, aluminium hydroxide gel, bismuth carbonate, kaolin, magnesium carbonate, and magnesium trisilicate. A slight decreased propranolol absorption was given by kaolin (−13.0%), the other components showed smaller effects ranging from −6.8% to +6.6%. None of the results were statistically significantly different from control absorption values. Acknowledgment. We are grateful to I.C.I. Zusammenfassung Die Hemmwirkung von 6-Azauracilribosid auf die Vermehrung des Vaccina-Virus in Gewebekulturen wurde festgestellt. Die Substanz blieb gegen andere Viren (Influenza A, NDV, EEE) wirkungslos.

The effect of virus B on enzyme-systems of the host,in vivo andin vitro

Zusammenfassung Im Hirnbrei von mit Virus B infizierten Kaninchen und in Gewebezuchten von Affennieren-Epithelien werden Veränderungen des Fermentgehaltes beobachtet. In beiden Fällen zeigt sich eine starke Zunahme der RNA-ase, während sich Nucleotidase, DNA-asen und Phosphomonoesterasenin vivo undin vitro nicht gleich verhalten.

The effect of proflavine on the infection ofPhaseolus vulgaris L. by tobacco necrosis virus

Zusammenfassung Proflavin hemmt die Infektion vonPhaseolus vulgaris L. durch Tabaknekrosevirus, wenn es vor oder nach dem Virus auf die Blätter aufgepinselt wird. Die Versuche lassen vermuten, dass Proflavin sowohl mit dem intakten Virus als auch mit der infektiösen Nukleinsäure eine Verbindung eingeht.

Riassunto Epatociti isolati mediante dispersione meccanica dopo incubazione del tessuto epatico in un mezzo acquoso contenente tetrafenilborato di Na, un agente chelante il K, perdono circa il 30% del loro contenuto in sostanze solide. L'aggiunta al mezzo di incubazione di glicerolo riduce tale perdita.

Zusammenfassung Es werden zwei Zuchtgruppen vonSarcophaga ruficornis-Larven hinsichtlich ihres Aminosäuregchaltes des Blutes untersucht. Den auf Fleisch gezüchteten Tieren fehlt Lysin, Glutamin und Taurin, während diese Aminosäuren bei den auf Hundebisquit aufgezogen Larven vorhanden sind, ihnen dagegen Threonin fehlt. Der Aminosäuregehalt im Blut der Puppen beider Zuchtgruppen ist gleich.

The interaction of warfarin with antacid constituents in the gut

Summary A study was made of the effect of 4 constituents of antacid preparations on the absorption of the coumarin derivate warfarin sodium using an in vitro experimental model. The constituents tested were activated dimethicone (a silicone) magnesium trisilicate, bismuth carbonate and the adsorbant, kaolin. Slight decreased intestinal absorption was shown by magnesium trisilicate (19%) and bismuth carbonate (7%), the other 2 components showing no effects.
