Increased urinary excretion of cyclic nucleotides in X-linked hypophosphatemic (Hyp) mice

Summary Hyp mice, a model for human X-linked hypophosphatemia, had elevated urinary cyclic AMP, cyclic GMP, and magnesium excretion compared to normal mice. The data suggest a renal origin of the urinary cyclic nucleotides. No significant differences in plasma cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP were observed between genotypes.This work was supported in part by research grants from The Kroc Foundation and the NIH, RR-09016.     

Circadian variation of adrenocortical cyclic nucleotides (cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP) in hypophysectomized rats

The existence of a circadian variation in the adrenocortical concentrations of cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP in male adult Wistar rats examined 10 days after hypophysectomy is demonstrated. The results suggest that the circadian variations of adrenocortical cyclic nucleotides observed previously in intact rats might not entirely depend upon pituitary corticotrophin.

Increased urinary excretion of a basement membrane like glycoprotein in acute uranium nephropathy

Résués Les effets de l'uranium sur l'excrétion de la glycoprotéine urinaire principale du rat out été étudiés chez 10 animaux. La principale glycoprotéine urinaire augmente de 50% dans les 24 h qui suivent l'administration de l'uranium.

Plasma disappearance and urinary excretion of reserpine (serpasil) in the unanesthetized dog

Résumé La réserpine administrée par voie intraveineuse chez le chien à dose de 1,5 mg/kg de poids du corps disparaît rapidement du sang artériel. Les quantités de réserpine retrouvées sont de 1,5 µg/ml au bout de 90 s. Il n'y a pas de corrélation entre les quantités de réserpine contenues dans le sang et le début ou la durée de la sédation produite. Au bout de 48 h, moins de 2% de la dose injectée est retrouvée dans l'urine. Etant donné la rapidité avec laquelle la drogue disparaît dans du sang, on ne s'explique pas l'hypersensibilité du chien à son égard. L'excrétion rénale négligeable de la drogue chez le chien ne permet pas d'espérer que des études de clairance rénale éclaircissent le mécanisme d'action de la réserpine chez cet animal.

Increased excretion of 5-hydroxy-indole-acetic acid after the administration of 3-indole-acetic acid (heteroauxine)

Zusammenfassung Nach peroraler Verabreichung von IAA wird eine vermehrte Ausscheidung von 5-HIAA festgestellt. Eine Hydroxylierung der aufgenommenen IAA wird vermutet. Damit wird ein neuer Weg der Entstehung der 5-HIAA beim Menschen aufgezeigt.     

Reduced excretion of urinary procoagulant in uremic patients

Zusammenfassung Ein hochaktiver, gerinnungsfördernder Faktor wird normalerweise im menschlichen Urin ausgeschieden. Die Ausscheidung ist quantitativ bei gesunden Erwachsenen altersabhängig und bei Urämie wesentlich vermindert.     

Influence of cyclic nucleotides on protein synthesis in vascular smooth muscle

Summary The incorporation of leucice-¹⁴C into protein in bovine mesenteric arteries was augmented by cyclic GMP (10^–3 M) and decreased by cyclic AMP (10^–3 M). There was no effect of 5 AMP (10^–3 M). The phosphodiesterase inhibiting drugs theophylline (10^–3 M) and papaverine (5×10^–5 g/ml) both decreased the leucine-¹⁴C incorporation.We are indebted to Mrs.Lena Burlin for hear assistance. Dynamics of excretion of urinary chemosignals in the house mouse (Mus musculus) during the natural estrous cycle

The volatile fraction of urinary metabolites was investigated chromatographically at five different stages of the natural estrous cycle. A very substantial endocrine dependency has been noted for 11 compounds: 4 ketones, 2 acetate esters, 3 dihydrofuran isomers, dehydro-exo-brevicomin, and 2,5-dimethylpyrazine. The compounds were structurally verified through combined gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.

Evidence of urinary glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antigens excretion in 3 rodents (rat, mouse, and guinea-pig) (author's transl)]

Immunodiffusion technique, with rabbits antibodies against rat glomerular basement membrane (GBM), permits to evidence the presence of GBM antigens into normal urines of 3 rodents (rat, mouse, and guinea-pig). These results confirm the earlier works in human and rabbit urines and show the antigenic communauty existing between the 3 rodents GBM, since we can evidence antigens of 3 different mammals with the same antibody. The origin and the nature of this patterns and the signification of this presence into mammalian urines are discussed.     

The influence of cyclic nucleotides (c-AMP and c-GMP) on the nitrous blue tetrazolium reduction by human polymorphonuclear leucocytes

Résumé On a étudié l'influence des nucléotides cycliques (AMP-cyclique et GMP-cyclique) sur la réduction du NBT. L'AMP-cyclique ainsi que le théophylline inhibent cette réduction, tandis que la GMP-cyclique l'active. La préincubation de leucocytes en présence de l'AMP-cyclique annule l'activation de la réduction par l'acide ascorbique mais ne l'influence pas par le bleu de méthylène. On peut en conclure que dans ce système, comme dans les autres, ces deux nucléotides jouent un rôle d'antagonistes.

Pineal body and urinary sodium excretion in the rat

Zusammenfassung Ein salinischer Extrakt desCorpus pineale erzeugt bei normalen, nicht aber bei adrenalektomierten Ratten eine starke Retention von Natrium. Auf Grund der besonderen anatomischen Verhältnisse des Corpus pineale der Ratte vertreten wir die Auffassung, dass die wirksame Substanz, wahrscheinlich Adrenoglomerulotropin, in der Zirbeldrüse selbst erzeugt wird und nicht aus der Nachbarschaft dort angereichert wird.
