Zusammenfassung Es zeigt sich während des frühen Regenerationsstadiums bei der teilweise hepatektomierten Rattenleber, dass ein Anstieg im Galaktose-Metabolismus mit gleichzeitiger Abnahme seiner Hemmung durch Ethanol einhergeht. Nach vollständiger Geweberegeneration kehrt der normale Metabolismus zurück.

Increased activity of the ribosomal dissociation factor in the pre-replicative phase of liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy

Summary The activity of the ribosomal dissociation factor and the formation in vitro of free 60S and 40S subunits increased in the first 12–48 h after partial hepatectomy. This suggests an, accelerated reconversion into active subunits of ribosomes that complete a translation cycle in the early phases of liver regeneration.The technical assistance of Miss M. Sarcosine dehydrogenase activity in liver mitochondria of infant and adult rats

Zusammenfassung Die Aktivität der Sarcosinedehydrogenase in Lebermitochondrien 7tägiger Ratten ist um 50% kleiner als in adulten Tieren. Dieser Unterschied ist nicht durch das Elektrontransportflavoprotein limitiert und kann auch nicht durch eine Änderung in dem relativen Wert der löslichen Proteine in den Mitochondrien erklärt werden.     

Liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy in rats exposed before the operation to the stress stimulus

Zusammenfassung Es wird nachgewiesen, dass bei Ratten, die 8 h vor partieller Hepatektomie einer Stress-Stimulation ausgesetzt wurden, die Intensität der DNS-Synthese postoperativ im Vergleich mit den Kontrolltieren grösser war. Ebenso waren Veränderungen des Lebergewichtes und des Triglyzeridinhaltes in der Leber nach der partiellen Hepatektomie dieser Ratten stärker ausgeprägt. Vergleichbare Resultate wurden auch bei Ratten gefunden, die in der gleichen Zeit vor der partiellen Hepatekto'mie eine ACTH-Injektion erhielten.     

Hepatic DNA synthesis after partial hepatectomy in rats treated with protamin-Zn-insulin under different nutritional conditions

Zusammenfassung Bei Ratten mit dauerndem Zutritt zur Nahrung wurde die Zunahme der Desoxyribonukleinsäure-Synthese in der Leber (60–70% Hepatektomie) durch Applikation von Protamin-Zn-Insulin (3 IE/100 g Körpergewicht) s.c. 1h vor Hepatektomie stimuliert. Im Gegensatz dazu wurde bei Ratten mit einem stimulierten postoperativen Zutritt zur Nahrung die Synthese der Desoxyribonukleinsäure im Lebergewebe nach partieller Hepatektomie mit Protamin-Zn-Insulin gehemmt.     

Cholesterol 7alpha-hydroxylase activity of the rat liver after hypophysectomy and administration of hypophyseal hormones (author's transl)]

In order to elucidate the role of the hypophysis in the regulation of cholesterol 7alpha-hydroxylase activity, male and female rats hypophysectomized on day 50 of life were treated with different hypophyseal hormones and tested on day 85 of life. Only a crude extract from human hypophysis and ovine prolactin was able to enhance the enzyme activity, thereby restoring the level of intact controls.

Zusammenfassung 2–4 h nach Hypophysektomie erhöht Noradrenalin den Sauerstoffverbrauch wie bei Kontrollratten, 7 Tage nach der Entfernung der Hypophyse ist jedoch diese Wirkung des Noradrenalin aufgehoben. Die CO₂-Abgabe verhält sich qualitativ wie der Sauerstoffverbrauch.     

The effects of 4 detergents on the respiration of mitochondria isolated from rat liver]

The effects of these four detergents (two non-ionic: Titron X100 and Tween 80, two ionic: sodium cholate and sodium dedeoxycholate) upon the respiratory intensities of mitochondria and upon the ADP/0 and respiratory control ratios were observed. At low concentrations and in the absence of exogenous ADP, non ionic as well as ionic detergents provoked a threefold (or fourfold) increase of the respiratory intensities of mitochondria. At higher concentrations, the four detergents were inhibitory for mitochondrial oxidations in the order: Triton X 100 greater than DOC greater than cholate greater than Tween 80. At increasing doses, the four detergents progressively decreased the phosphorylating capacities of mitochondria.     

Altered K+ movement in liver mitochondria from alloxan diabetic rats

Summary Potassium movements were monitored in liver mitochondria from control and alloxan diabetic rats with a cationic electrode. There was net accumulation of K⁺ after Ca²⁺ addition to the mitochondria with the diabetic but not with the control.
