The immunocytochemical and histochemical characters of the corticotroph cells of the Turtle adenohypophysis have been studied. These cells are localised in the rostral part of the gland and are revealed by Is anti ACTH (1-24) and (17-39). They are also colored with lead hematoxyline and PAS-Orange G. The corticotroph nature of these cells is confirmed by the study of their modifications after treatment with amphenone and ACTH. The Is anti ACTH also reveal most of the cells of the pars intermedia; while the Is anti beta-MSH reveals only these cells and some scatter cells of the pars distalis.  相似文献

The cytoimmunological study of the adenohypophysis of Boops salpa (marine Teleost), in different experimental conditions confirmed that the MacConaill's hematoxyline-positive cells contain: 1. ACTH (Corticotrophic Hormone) in the pars distalis, 2. MSH (Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone) and ACTH in the pars intermedia.  相似文献

Comparison of adjacent serial sections of the tubero-infundibular region of Human adult hypothalamus demonstrates that the same perikarya, axons and terminals are stained both with anti-beta-endorphin and anti 17-39 ACTH antisera. The most immunoreactive of these neurons are also revealed with anti alpha-endorphin, anti alpha and beta-MSH, anti-1-24 ACTH and anti beta-LPH. These results suggest that neurons of the infundibular nucleus can store and probably secrete peptide similar to propiocortin or fragment(s) of this molecule.  相似文献

The content of ACTH of the pars distalis and neurointermedia of the pituitary of adult Rats is higher in the male than in the female. This differenciation of content, according to sex, appears at puberty at the site of pars distalis; it only appears around the 60th day of life at the site of the pars intermedia. The androgens seem to be responsible for the higher percentages observed in the males.  相似文献

The response of the pituitary-adrenal axis to suckling in lactating Rats is dependent on two factors: 1. a psychic factor, which is identical by its effects to the psychological stress of the strange environment (transitory increase of plasma corticosterone and no significant modification of the content of ACTH in the two lobes of the pituitary); 2. a specific factor namely the stimulation of the nipples, which is distinguishable from the psychic factor by a longer release of corticosterone by the adrenals and a durable and significant decrease of the content of ACTH in the pars distalis.  相似文献

Summary The immunoreactive LH content of the pars tuberalis of neonatally androgenized female rats was studied and found to be significantly lower than that of control females at oestrus or of control males. It is concluded that the rat pars tuberalis does secrete LH and that this secretory activity is diminished by neonatal androgenization in a manner that differs from that reported for the LH secretion in the pars distalis.This investigation received financial support from Direccion de Investigacion, grants RMS-80-13 and S-80-26, Universidad Austral de Chile.  相似文献

The nucleus preopticus (NPO) and the pars lateralis of the nucleus lateralis tuberis (NLT) have been examined at the ultrastructural level. In the NPO two types of large neurons occur, both containing 140-150 nm secretory granules. The pars lateralis of the NLT contains only one cell type with similar granules. Both of these nuclei may be the source of type A fibres innervating the gonadotropic cells of Gambusia.  相似文献

In the green Frog (Rana esculenta) the plasma contains a polypeptide immunologically related to human and porcine corticotropins. A radiommunoassay capable of detecting 4.10-12 g hog ACTH has been used for a direct plasma ACTH assay in the Frog. Using this method, the ACTH rate was determined both in untreated frogs and in animals under various experimental conditions.  相似文献

In the rabbit, a single i.v. administration of ACTH4-10 (130 micrograms/kg) induces hyperglycemia. As ACTH4-10 also induces hypocalcemia and inhibits insulin secretion, we suggest that hypocalcemia, inhibition of insulin secretion, and hyperglycemia, are closely related.  相似文献

The use of anti ACTH (17-39) and alpha-MSH allowed us to detect by immunofluorescence in the Pituitary gland of Grass Snake the site of elaboration of ACTH and alpha-MSH. Corticotropic cells are located in the rostral part of the Pars Distalis and in the Pars intermedia. Melanotropic cells occupy the whole part of the Pars intermedia.  相似文献

The intravenous injection that was given to rabbits which consisted of 0,5 mg of a common heptapeptide to ACTH4-10, BETA MSH11-17 hormones, and to beta lipotropic47-53 hormone (beta LPH47-53) was followed at the end of an hour by an augmentation of 70% of total lipids, and at the end of two hours by a lowering of calcemia (around 27%) and of phosphoremia (20%). The injection of a tetrapeptide corresponding to only ACTH7-10 bound to a nitrobenzylhydralamin and in presence of a Freund adjuvants has provoked the formation of corresponding antibodies.  相似文献

The isolated adrenal cell method for bioassay of ACTH was employed in order to determine the ACTH content of the hypophysis of the rat foetus, in late pregnancy. The ACTH concentration decreases between 17 days 8 h and 17 days 15 h, then it increases regularly until the term. This evolution is correlated with the change in the fluorescence intensity of the corticotrophs and with the modification of the adrenocortical activity.  相似文献

Summary Selective lesions in the pars intercerebralis and pars lateralis areas of the brain of the adult Colorado potato beetle were produced by radiofrequency cautery. The effect of these lesions on the corpus allatum activity, determined by the short-term in vitro radiochemical assay, revealed that gland inhibitory centers are located in the pars lateralis.  相似文献

Summary The male gametogenic development of the immature rat shows inhibitory effect by the exogenous infusion of ACTH (0.25 IU and 0.50 IU; i.p.). Seminiferous tubular degeneration, Leydig cell atrophy and Sertoli cell regression are very conspicuous in the dosage of 0.50 IU ACTH (i.p.). Cytometrical and histological evidence confirms that ACTH could be inhibited by FSH during male gametogenic development which leads to cellular degeneration of testes in the immature rat.This work is supported by CSIR, Project No. JRF 37. The effects of chronic ACTH treatment on the increase in the intracellular concentration of cyclic-AMP and cyclic-GMP acutely elicited by ACTH in the rat adrenal cortex were investigated. To investigate the roles of adenosine A1 and A2 receptors in the regulation of aldosterone production, we examined the effects of adenosine and adenosine agonists (N6-cyclohexyl adenosine; selective adenosine A1 receptor agonist and 5'-N-ethylcarboxamine adenosine; selective adenosine A2 receptor agonist) on aldosterone and cyclic AMP production in rat adrenal capsular cells. Neither adenosine nor 5'-N-ethylcarboxamine adenosine caused significant effects on basal aldosterone or cyclic AMP production. Also, adenosine (10(-3) M) showed no consistent effects on aldosterone and cyclic AMP production induced by ACTH. On the other hand, N6-cyclohexyl adenosine exhibited a significant inhibition of basal aldosterone and cyclic AMP production at doses of 10(-4) M and 10(-3) M; furthermore, 10(-3) M N6-cyclohexyl adenosine inhibited aldosterone and cyclic AMP production stimulated by ACTH. These results suggest that adenosine A1 receptors are coupled to and inhibit adenylate cyclase and may be involved in the inhibition of aldosterone production.  相似文献

Summary In the course of studying the plasma adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and corticosterone responses to synthetic corticotropin releasing factor (CRF), we noted some disparity in the responses. A higher dose (20 g compared with 5 g per rat i.a.) produced an equal plasma ACTH but greater plasma corticosterone response in adult male rats. Thus, we examined the possibility that CRF increases adrenocortical responsiveness to ACTH. CRF significantly (p<0.0005) increased the plasma corticosterone response to ACTH in rats pretreated with dexamethasone. Thus, synthetic CRF increases corticosterone secretion in rats not only by stimulating ACTH secretion, but also by increasing the adrenocortical responsiveness to ACTH.Acknowledgments.
