Summary Frequency analysis of the songs of 90 European passerine species shown a correlation with body weight. In a number of species a dependence on habitat was found.     

Serotonin in the human infant carotid body

By immunocytochemistry serotonin was localized in the chief cells of the carotid body in human infants. Radioenzymatic measurement of the serotonin concentration revealed that it represents a significant proportion of the total amine content of the carotid body.

Inhibition of saline-induced diuresis in the rat by sulpiride

Summary Sulpiride (120 mg/kg, i.p.) inhibited saline-induced diuresis in the rat, an effect not observed with haloperidol, clozapine, pimozide or chlorpromazine. The antidiuretic effect of sulpiride also occurred in hypophysectomized rats suggesting that the response was not prolactin-mediated.

The toxic effect of two forms of sand on the lung was investigated by tracheal injection in Rats. After a latent period with low toxicity, more and more extensive pulmonary lesions, comparable to typical silicotic lesions, appear progressively. On the basis of some observations, the hypothesis is put forward that the impurities present in the dust have a retardative effect.     

Peritubular capillary permeability of albumin in saline and water diuresis

Résumé Ce travail compare le passage de l'albumine marquée, de l'inuline, et du thiosulfate à partir du lit capillaire dans la lymphe rénale capsulaire et hilaire, chez le chien soumis à des diurèses salines et aqueuses. Les résultats suggèrent que la perméabilité capillaire péritubulaire est influencée de mainière différente par la variation des conditions de diurèse.

A low molecular weight glycosaminoglycan from the human aorta

Summary A low mol.wt, dialyzable glycosaminoglycan was isolated from human aorta and was found to be homogeneous on 2 dimensional electrophoresis. As judged by its electrophoretic mobilities and its hydrolysis by chondroitin sulfatase ABC, it was concluded that this hitherto unknown glycosaminoglycan is an oversulfated chondroitin sulfate.This study was supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (GM-10374, HL-13262), U.S. Public Health Service.
