Summary A new synthesis is described of a crystalline 7-methyl-doisynolic acid showing a strong estrogenic activity. This acid is probably identical with the stereoisomer C ofAnner andMiescher. Demethylation of this methoxyacid yields a new doisynolic acid of mp. 113–117° (hemihydrate).

Immunpräzipitation Insulin-verwandter proteine mit ziegen-anti-insulinserum

Summary Bovine insulin, proinsulin, and intermediate form were prepared by Sephadex gelfiltration and chromatography on DEAE-cellulose. Using a goat anti-insulin serum, the cross-reactions of proinsulin and intermediate form could be shown by immuno-precipitation. A method is described for the separation of proinsulin from insulin in agar gel. New compounds related to proinsulin or insulin were found in human insulin preparations by means of immunoelectrophoresis.

Variations de la différence de potentiel électrochimique des chlorures chezNitella en présence de benzène sulphonate

Summary The chloride electrochemical potential difference between the inside of cells ofNitella translucens and some external solutions, where Cl has been progressively replaced by benzenesulphonate, has been measured by means of Ag-AgCl electrodes. It appears that benzenesulphonate moves into the cell by an electrogenic pump and that the uptake of Cl byNitella is not in contradiction with a carrier hypothesis.

Summary The blue chromoproteid isolated from the fins ofCrenilabrus pavo C.V. is split by alkali hydrolysis into a protein and a pigment soluble in chloroform. The pigment is identified as biliverdin by its positive Gmelinreaction, the UV and visible absorption spectrum, and the chromatographic behaviour of its dimethyl ester. The lowest molecular weight of the chromoproteid has been evaluated from its biliverdin content to be 37,000±2400; different chromatographic fractions are presumably oligomeres of this unit.

Summary Comparative labelling of the mouse brain with tritiatedd, l-proline andl-proline reveals a dissimilarity of incorporation between the optical isomers of this amino acid. The differential regional distribution pattern ofd-proline can be correlated to the cerebral distribution of the enzyme activity ofd-aminoacid-oxidase in the mouse brain.

Summary The mechanism of incorporation of different mental ions into phthalocyaninetetrasulfonic acid in aqueous solution has been investigated. It was found that the rate of the reacion with Cu²⁺ depends on the dissociation rate of the N-H-bond of this porphyrin-like chelating agent, whereas the reaction rate with other metal ions, like Zn²⁺, does not.
