| 摘 要： | “简洁性”是全国科学技术名词审定委员会之重要定名原则。中医药术语的突出特点是语言高度凝练、简明扼要,因此在其英译的过程中更应坚持简洁性原则。建议中医药术语英译的简洁性可通过省略虚词、使用名词性定语、采用连字符及避免赘译等手段来实现。

| Abstract: | “Conciseness” is one of the important principles in determining terminology put forward by China National Committee for Terms in Sciences and Technologies. The prominent characteristics of TCM terms are highly concise and to the point in wording. So, the English translation of TCM terms should adhere the conciseness principle. We suggest that the conciseness of TCM term translation can be achieved by omitting function words, applying nouns as modifiers,using hyphens, and avoiding redundant translation. |
