| 摘 要： | 众所周知，英语既是一种有丰富文学和文化传统的文字，又一直是一种开放性语言。在过去的几个世纪里，它一方面不断从别的语言（如拉丁语、希腊语、法语等）吸收大量的字和词，另一方面它本身也一直向外扩张影响，特别是近一二百年来，由于国际间交往的日益频繁和扩大，它早已超出英、美两国国界，得到充分发展益成为当今世界上词汇最丰富，使用最广泛的世界性语言。根据语言学家的统计，现在英语词汇已超过七十万，而且还继续在增长。这是因为随着社会的进步和现代科学技术的突飞猛进，在“信息爆炸”的当今时代里，创造发明层出不穷，新鲜…
