| Abstract: | In the socio -semiotic model, translation is approached as a cross -cultural, cross - social, and cross - linguistic communicative activity. Based on Chen Hongwei＇ s translation method related to the socio - semiotic approach to translation, the process of translation is per- ceived as a way to attain the criterion of correspondence in meaning and similarity in function be- tween the source text and a target text. The paper is intended to deal with the English translation of Chinese minority classics from the perspectives of designative meaning, connotative meaning and pragmatic meaning respectively in Order to provide some practical strategies for the transla- tion of Chinese minority classics. |
