| Abstract: | Thymidine was esterificated with carboxylic acid to protect primary alcoholic hydroxyl, then underwent the reaction sequence of oxo-bridge, azide, deprotection to yield zidovudine in overall yield of 66%. The method is simpler and is suitable for industrialization. |
