一种实用快速的车牌字符分割方法

针对车牌自动识别系统中的字符分割问题,提出了一种基于车牌字符几何特征的分割字符算法。该方法先用数学形态学对二值化后的车牌图像进行一系列的形态运算,去除掉一些无用信息,使得字符与车牌左右边框、字符与字符之间空懈变大,便于划出字符间的垂直分割线,然后使用一种新的快速测量车牌倾斜度的方法进行校正。实验结果表明,该算法原理简单实用,分割速度快,分割的质量好,便于下一步的识别。

Practical and Fast Algorithm for Character Segmentation of License Plate

Aiming at the character segmentation of license plate recognition system,an algorithm based on geometrical characteristics of plate characters is presented.Firstly,the mathematical morphology is applied to the binary image of the plate to remove some useless information and to make greater distances between characters and plate frames and between characters.The algorithm is convenient for lining out the vertical boundaries.A new and fast method for measuring the gradient of plates is used secondly.The experimental results show that the principle of the new algorithm is simple,the segmenting process is fast,and the quality of segmented characters is good for character recognition.
