进入21世纪，日本政府高度重视与中东的能源外交，并把维护能源安全视为重要的国家战略。经四年的谈判，日本与伊朗就阿扎德甘开采问题签署了合同，这表明长期以来日本在中东地区推行的能源外交政策有了更大的突破，但是，随着伊朗核问题的紧张，这样的能源外交对日本来说同时也是一种挑战。

After the four years＇ negotiation, Japan and Iran has made an agreement and signed the contract on the issue of the exploitation of Azadegan, which shows that the energy foreign policy that Japan pursued for a long term in the Middle East area has made a great breakthrough. But with the increasing intension of the Iranian nuclear problem, it is also shown as a kind of challenge at the same time for Japan to go on this way.
