三峡地区,盐泉资源得天独厚,泉盐生产历史悠久.勤劳的峡民由于嗜盐本能的驱动,自然界又具有提供所需物质的条件,凭借直观的感觉和偶然的机遇,或许远在旧石器时代已发现和利用盐泉,迨至新石器时代早期即开始了原始而划时代的泉盐生产.

Superficial Inference on the Origination of Spring Salt in Three-Gorge Region

Rich spring salt resources in Three-Gorge region are generously endowed by Nature, and have a long history in production. Though the exact time of the exploitation and utilization of salt by ancient generations there lacks historical record and direct archaeological materials, and even though we cannot make textual researches on it, hardworking local people, subjectively motivated by the liking for salt, objectively having the rich resources provided by nature, and relying on direct senses and chance, most probably unearthed and utilized such salt during the Old-Stone Age. With the appearance of pottery in early New-Stone Age, the primitive but epoch-making spring salt production set its way.
