| Abstract: | The method of base friction models is used to simulate the effcts of g-ravity in two dimensional physical models of engineering in rock and soil. The mouel lying on one base of plane moves relatively to the plane, between them i frictional force developed which is applied to imitate gravity. Because the model, apparatus and applicatron of the method are simple, especially the whole processs of the model's destruction can be observed directly and successively in the test, the method is a important means to study problems in rock and soil engineering.
The development and use of the method, the analogy and its design between the model and gravity are illustrated in this paper |
