Abstract:When wheat (Triticum aestivum L .cv. Longchun No. 10) was subjectedto osmotic stress or soil drought, photosynthetic O_2-evolution rate wasreduced remarkably, the light compensation point increased and the lightsaturation point decreased, the lag time of photosynthesis lengthened. Inthe early water stress, the rate of respiratory O_2-uptake rose, but itdeclined as the stress became stern. Photosynthetic O_2-evolution rateapproached control's level after rewatering. These results suggested thatthe sharp decrease of net O_2-evolution was due to both the injury ofphotosynthetic apparatus and the increase of respiratory rate.
