A discussion and study on the diagram of theoretical forming limit |

| Abstract: | A new hypothesis about the criterion of the localized necking in bulging forming of sheet metal is proposed in this paper. The new hypothesis suggests that the maximum principal streess is the decisive factor to the instability. From this presumption, a new theoretical forming limit diagram is obtained, which proves experimentally to accord with practical results |
