| 摘 要： | 委婉语实质上是一种替代,即对某事物或概念避免直接提及而采用迂回的方式表达出来。由于语言的本质属性所致,社会生活中的各种禁忌几乎无一例外地会映射于语言之中。作为世界上最为发达、表现力最为丰富的两种语言,英语和汉语都存在着大量有关社会生活的委婉语。通过对比分析这两种语言中有关宗教、职业、姓名称谓和年龄等不同领域的委婉语,我们认识到它们的文化内涵不尽相同,甚至大相径庭。对比研究英汉委婉语的特点,有利于加深我们对中西文化和语言的认识。

| Abstract: | There are many euphemisms both in English and Chinese.English and Chinese euphemisms are characterized by more pleasure or less bluntness,but they differ a lot.This article,therefore,aims to make a contrastive analysis of the cultural connotations of a few main euphemisms in social life,which attempts to further the study of the relation between Western culture and Chinese culture. |
