An Overview of Pharmacological Effects of Panax Notoginseng on Blood, Cardio-cerebrovascular and Central Nervous System

Research advances of pharmacological effects of Panax notoginseng on blood, cardio-cerebrovascular and central nervous system are reviewed. By analyzing literatures, it is amazing to find that the pharmacological effects of Panax notoginseng have not been limited to the well-known haemostasia, dissipating blood stasis, apocatastasis, acesodyne, etc. In recent years, Panax notoginseng plays an important role in the treatment of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases, and exerts protective effects on myocardial and cerebral ischemia. Moreover, it is also used to cure coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, and so on. The medicinal value of Panax notoginseng is far beyond the level of development. We are urged to strengthen the relevant basic research and augment the development efforts for the medical and health care products of Panax notoginseng.
