匹普命运的现代价值——试析《远大前程》主人公匹普的命运

《远大前程》是19世纪英国最伟大的批判现实主义作家查尔斯·狄更斯的晚期代作。本文拟从匹普命运的转折入手，认为上等人和下等人的区别，不应该是物质的眼光来看待，而是以精神的眼光来观察整个社会关系的力量、意志、智慧和道德原动力。而他的悲剧，一方面是道德标准的模糊，另一方面，则是整个社会环境的复杂及由此造成的不同等级的人在社会中宿命的被安排。

Expectation or Disillusionment--Analysis Pip's fate in Great Expectations

Great Expectations is one of the later period representative works of Charles Dickens who is considered as the greatest critical realism writer in British in the 19th century. Through analysis the turning of Pip's fate, this paper intends to show that it should not use a material point of view to tell the difference between the upper and the lower class, but to use the vision of observing the spirit of the whole community from the strength, determination, wisdom and moral impetus. One cause of His tragedy is determined by the fuzzy ethical standards, another cause is the complexity of the whole social environment and the arrangement of fate for different grades of people in the society.
